You're actually assuming it goes to the best rookie?
It goes to the highest scoring rookie more often than not -- and he has a good shot at that the way he's playing.

But what makes you think he can't pass Forsberg!? Forsberg's PDO shows some regression coming. Not to mention he plays on the top line while Gaudreau doesn't. I honestly like both players and I personally see it being verrryy close. Not counting out either!

Fair enough?? Ekblad? I do really like the odds of Ekblad winning. I think all three of the players we've discussed have bright futures. I'm buying the hype on Johnny for sure, and all three really.

The fact that he's in discussion for calder at this point gives warrant.

I was a big Gaudreau non believer, but he's obviously surpassed everyone's expectations and you have to give him credit for that. Start believing. I have.

Gaudreau, winner of the Hobey Baker Award as U.S. college hockey's best player last year, has trademarked the term "Johnny Hockey" with patent and trademark offices in both Canada and the U.S.

I hope this is all his agent's work. If it was his idea, I would kick him in the nuts if I ever met him.

Gotta be his agent, and it makes sense business wise. At least he's not trademarking "'Thats so hot' TM Paris Hilton" or some other crap like that.

Yeah it's most likely his agent. It makes a lot of business sense in a world where a personal brand can extend the earning potential for an athlete who's career might only be 10-15 years long.

It's a stupid nickname but he's right for trademarking it if it means anything money-wise.
