Crosby Fake Arrested
I wasn’t quite on the ball this morning, but there was an article that came out saying Crosby was arrested in Ottawa in a rented Porsche. It was taken down because it wasn’t true, but I would have been interested in reading it. Would have been a dream come true. Crosby is like that unpopular kid in middle school who is crazy good at gym, and all his friends are the girls. Every boy hates him and secretly likes it when he jumps on the dodgeball when trying to avoid it.
But then he cries and gym class is cancelled.

Ottawa news reported this between 3am-5am and all these other newspaper sites reported it too. The police chief in Ottawa tweeted out they never arrested Crosby or had any interaction with him. My local paper even tweeted it out at like 6am.
If you google Crosby arrested there’s all these links to articles that are taken down now.

My guess is the sources were police officers who said something, and when the paper called to confirm, they couldn't get confirmation.
Instead of being scooped by another paper, they ran with what they had.

Earlier today, QMI Agency reported that Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby was arrested by Ottawa Police late Tuesday on driving-related charges.
There was no basis for the story and QMI unreservedly retracts the story in its entirety.
QMI regrets the error.
