New GM\'s trying to make an impact in the offseason for their team. You gotta watch out for these guys...
I\'ll be interested to see if Toronto goes after any RFA\'s via offer sheet. Their management is in a similar position as Vancouver...

Problem is that anyone worth signing is going to commande a decent salary. The leafs can not afford to give up any high draft picks.I\'ll be interested to see if Toronto goes after any RFA\'s via offer sheet. Their management is in a similar position as Vancouver...
I mean even if we offered a deal to a Perry-like player at the 5.2 million + salary, who wouldn\'t want 4 first round Toronto pick\'s?
We could rebuild someone else\'s franchise before \"ours\".

I think that there are a bunch of reasonable RFA\'s that the leafs could offer similar (for 2nd round draft pick) type contracts to.

I don\'t think that Mike Gillis cares about whether or not he makes friends. It is business. He is a lawyer, it is all about the law. I expect that he will be doing more of same. Personally I am glad to see him do it.
I don\'t think they will get Backes though. I would bet on St. Louis matching. It isn\'t like he offered 25 million, over 5 years, for a 40 point guy. At least it wasn\'t ridiculous.

these guys are paid to win, period. Offer sheets are well within the rules.
Blues matched so good try, but I agree with angu business is business, Brian burke really should shutup about the Oilers signing Penner, he was caught with his pants down and he is still embaressed.
