Default Should I be Questioning Rask

Rask is super consistent and will help your goalie situation 100% of the time, but I have some worries with him this yr. We are removing SO as a cat and are adding in Saves, which he doesn’t get a lot. He will dominate my Sv%, Gaa, and wins, but I feel like Price may be the best goalie next yr for this set up. Am I crazy to doubt him/consider trading him? Would it be better to ask Rask + Voracek = Price + Eberle or something like that?

I think Rask and Price are close, but you should be able to get a + if you move Rask for Price. Personally I wouldn't be concerned about Rask, but if you want to make the move then go for it. I would prefer Rask + Voracek though, so maybe look for a better return than Eberle.

you are talking about 7 saves per week maybe and that is assuming that there will be no growth defensively in Montreal

I'd be careful with that, Price lost one of his best defenders in Josh Gorges this season, he may get you more saves but I bet he gives up more goals too.

Sure they lost Gorges, but they also lost Murray so that's improvement by subtraction.

Tom Gilbert doesn't get much credit as a defenseman he was only -5 on a team that allowed 268 goals against.

Price will produce at the same rate as he did last year, if not better.

Great points being raised by everyone. I would stand pat, taking comfort in knowing that I've got one of the absolute best goalies in the game for years to come.

There's a good reason for that too

Tom Gilbert does not come anywhere close to replacing Gorges. He's much better offensively but he comes nowhere close to Gorges in terms of defensive zone coverage and blocking shots and PK.

Don't want to hijack this thread with MTL D and Price talks, but I couldn't agree with you more.

I just think that there's a general consensus among people that MTL is going to forget how to defend all of a sudden and Price is going to fall back down to earth just because Gorges is gone. That's just not going to happen.

If you can get Price++ for Rask then maybe but I wouldn't be worried about Rask in any sense.

Thanks guys. I'm also a bit on edge because every yr my team gets a bad injury in each position so far in the league haha. Karlsson then stammer. Just can't help but wonder my luck if Rask goes down.

But I think I'm over thinking the whole saves thing. Like lucifer said, it's only minimal saves I'd be possibly losing

I agree with this. In a head to head league, the gap between Rask and Price is pretty dang small. If you can get a good + thrown in, I would do it. The difference between Eberle and Voracek isn't worth it, but a bigger upgrade might be. If you can't get any better than that, then don't bother and stick with Rask.

I would keep Rask... Boston just plays a better defensive game overall IMO
