the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins are four of the six teams that have shown interest in Brodeur. The record-setting netminder, who is expected to part ways with the New Jersey Devils after more than 20 years with the club, desires going to a contender.

I imagine he just wants to continue to play so he'll play for minimal salary, but Boston doesn't have the cap space, neither does Chicago (not currently anyway) and the Leafs and Pens have minimal space so something else would need to happen to make it work I think

If Anaheim lets Gibson develop in the AHL one more year, then this might be a good fit, depending on Anaheim's cap situation.

Pretty interesting idea, but I think the Ducks keep Gibson up this year.

Still thinking Marty will end up with the Wild.

This article is like a month and a half old lol.

Toronto can't do it now cause they have Reimer. If they had been able to trade him then I could see it.

    Boston - no space

Chicago - no space or use. Antti Raanta is one a 1-way contract

Pittsburgh - Fleury obviously. Then Greiss and Zatkoff are both on 1-way's. No space.

The only team with space to get a goaltender down to the AHL is Winnipeg, Anaheim, New Jersey.

Anaheim signed Jason Labarbera for this situation.

So had Edmonton. How'd that work out for ole Jason. I don't see Labarbera as a facto in any regard. He is NOT good and I am 99.9% convinced that last years top western cede will ever rely in him. If they decide to drop Gibby to the Ahl (which may be smart, I think Brodeur here makes the most sense for both sides.

No arguing that point but that's the reason they signed him, for depth. I think Marty to Anaheim makes sense for all involved but I doubt it happens.

With one-way contracts can’t teams just start them in the AHL as of September 30th? But if Marty gets hurt and this back-up gets called up for a few games he can’t be sent down without going through waivers?

    I could be wrong though

What about Winnipeg? Pavelec has been shaky and they have lots of cap room?

Winnipeg is not a contender. I think Marty should go out as a Devil, and just retire. Why risk having an ultra shitty season like Tim Thomas did last year? What has he got left to prove?

Nothing at all, you're right but as far as I know he's determined to play. That's often the case with the greats: Selanne, Jagr, Chelios, they have a hard time hanging up the skates

I still think he waits it out until an injury or something like that. He won't be signed prior the season starting.
