Could Sakic become a Canuck?

There has been talk of Joe Sakic retiring. Vancouver/Burnaby is his hometown. Is there a possibility of his becoming a Canuck?

Yes it is possible, it is also possible that the Leafs can win the Cup this year, everyone in BC asks for an increase in the Carbon Tax and that Dobber\'s site gets more hits than the top porn sites in the coming year.

This rumour get bandied about all the time, Yes Joe is from Burnaby but loves colorado and has had chances to come here and stayed.

Some might say that the Avs are rebuilding but look at the mess the canucks are in, Joe is one very smart guy, he is not coming to Vancouver

You could very well be right Hardyvan. I also consider that he is likely to go into the Hall of Fame as an Avalanche/Nordique.

With all due respect, do you have personal knowledge or is this an opinion?

An informed opinion, if sakic had not been born in burnaby would this rumour have any legs.

I live in Vancouver this is wishfull thinking, read my post, the information is very supportive of my opinion.

The only guy will personal knowlege would be Sakic himself, not sure that he is posting here, no offense but until something breaks even the experts like Doober and Angus are making informed guesses with some inside rumours or directions when a story is close to breaking.

It would never happen... Why would he want to play his last year or years with a non COL team where he has spent his whole career.

Thats like linden going back to NYI this year and retiring the following year... It would just never happen.

I happen to agree with all that have posted and don\'t think there is a possibility.

Doesnt anyone else think that it\'s only right that he retires a Nordique/Avalanche?

I think it just bothers me because of what happened with the Brian Leetch fiasco of a few years ago.

I agree he should retire a \'lanch. What if he came to Vancouver and had his first terrible season? It would be like when Messier arrived in town.

Even if he had an average season it may not meet the \"Vancouver fan\" expectation anyway.

I\'d rather see them use their UFA money to sign younger talent that can help the team long term.
