Default Do you thaw your frozen steaks before cooking?

Interesting video on why it's better to cook your steaks from a frozen state than thawing them before cooking. Who knew? Apparently I have been doing it wrong all these years. I'll have to try this.

Why freeze steaks in the first place?
Instead, give your local butcher your business and pick up some dry aged steaks the day you plan to grill, trust me you'll never go back!

This method just can't work with the grill, right?

from my experience in high end restaurants, freezing a steak is a big no-no. Those steaks looked like a medium to medium well too.

Edit: Also I think it would be verrry tough and the texture would be off. When I lived away from home for a bit, steaks I would freeze were just plain awful compared to the fresh ones!

I don't think it would work. The outside would cook way to fast compared to the inside!

The local butcher is going the way of the dodo bird (not one in my town), but it is worth it to go out of the way for aged steaks.

my wife does a good job broiling our steaks so I'll stick with that.

some thug kept stealing propane tanks in my neighbourhood a few years ago which discouraged me from using the barbie

The only time I deal in frozen steaks is when we get sent them on the fire line. And I'm not sure this method is going to work all that well with our little Coleman stove. I'll stick to thawing the steaks out.

you are absolutely right, the worst thing you can do to a fine cut of meat is freeze it! a nice aged ribeye cooked perfectly medium rare is a thing of beauty
