Does this make Souray expendable? Tradeable? What does this do to Pitkanen\'s tenure with the OIL?
Who gains the most from this in LA? JJ?
For Lubomir Visnovsky.
Busy night so far!

Wonder if this means Pitkanen will be moved....

I doubt any team would touch Souray\'s contract. Not a big market for over paid one hit wonders. (As I say this he\'s probably getting traded, lol). Like Angus said, Pitkanen is gone but Souray will be there for the long run.Does this make Souray expendable? Tradeable? What does this do to Pitkanen\'s tenure with the OIL?

We get one of these - Don't waste it.
Nice pick up for Oilers IMO
Lub and Souray on the PP will be pretty nice
How much does this hurt T. Gilbert\'s chance to improve on last year\'s numbers?

I suppose they must figure it\'s JJ\'s time to shine.
You think this has anything to do with them feeling Doughty can come in right away or am I just hoping.

Yeah...JJ has an opportunity here. Time for him to display the offensive game that made him a 3rd overall draft pick.
Look for 40 points.
Today is the tomorrow I worried about yesterday.
This looks good for Hemsky owners too as they probably will have a much better PP.

With that offense...at least.
They were teaching him defense last year...how to play in his own zone.
On the Kings website...they list JJ as their BEST D-Man...
This must have been in the works for a while.
Unbelievable! Glen Sather SUCKS! First Cammalleri is traded and now Visnovsky?!? L.A. is practically giving their stars away and the freakin\' Rangers arent getting in on any of these deals??? Im sure we could put together better packages than Stoll & Matt Greene for Visnovsky or Drafts picks which we wouldnt get anything decent with for Cammalleri! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! It\'s so frustrating being a Rangers fan with the incompetence we have in positions of power!
Thank you all for letting me vent.
P.S. Im not sure i understand the logic behind this move from Edmonton\'s stand point. Dont they have Souray and Pitkanen to run the PP? And doesnt Souray make a ton of money to be the PP quarterback? It\'s almost as if they wanna stack their blueline with offensive talent and hope to God Penner becomes a franchise player along with Hemsky.
I\'m assuming that Pitkanen has or is rejecting the Oilers offer, and Vis will be a replacement. I\'m going to guess that the Oil aren\'t done yet, since we have a ton of players up front that we need to move and three goalies going into next year (Garon, Rollie, JDD). I\'m not sure who would take guys like Torres, but, whatever. We do need a guy who can net 40 goals though, Penner doesn\'t cut it (I would have LOVED to see cammy here), heh.Im not sure i understand the logic behind this move from Edmonton\'s stand point
Another piece of reasoning, the Oilers have never really had a #1 D guy (like a Lidstrom, Chara, Campbell, etc.) since Pronger left. One of Pitkanen/Souray were supposed to step into that spot last year, but neither really did. So now we have LA\'s #1 guy
Souray has a gun. Otherwise, imo, he\'s more of a defensive defencemen. I wasn\'t real big on signing him. Though, if Visnovsky QB\'s the PP, all Souray needs to do is take the feeds and fire away, and might earn his contract after alldoesnt Souray make a ton of money to be the PP quarterback?
Also going to take a stab at this:
Gilbert was the #2-3 guy last year (played with Pitkanen a lot while Souray was injured), played on the 2nd PP. He\'ll be #2-4, depending if Souray stays healthy and/or Pitkanen resigns. Providing he doesn\'t go into a sophomore slump, and if the Oil keep scoring like they did at the end of last season, I think Gilbert has a realistic shot at 40 points next year (to me, that\'s a lot of if\'s, but, meh). How much does this hurt T. Gilbert\'s chance to improve on last year\'s numbers?
