Default Stalock or Greiss: Who is the next starter?

Both are in similar situations. Neimi and Fleury are UFA next year. Can one of these guys become a legit starter? Whose chances do you like?

Probably Stalock, maybe as soon as this season. Not because I own Fleury, but I think he's supremely talented. He just needs to get his stuff together and last year was a step in the right direction. I think Rutherford likes him quite a bit. Now if Pierre Mcguire took over we would be looking at a completely different situation in PIt. lol. Mcguire is the worst so thankfully we don't have to put up with that.

    I'd say Stalock.

To me, Greiss' game doesn't scream starting potential. Just a backup IMO.

I have Stalock on my team. If Greiss' owner came to me offering a trade straight up I wouldn't even give a counter proposal. Easily Stalock.

Stalock looks to be in the better position to become a #1 but Greiss is a solid goalie and MAF is no stud by any stretch (and he gets hurt), I can see either of them getting a shot at #1, or one or the other, or neither.

    Great answer huh?

Likely neither but if I had to choose, I'd pick Stalock.

Who thinks Greiss can be a starter? I had not heard this. Greiss had a decent year with SJ a couple of years ago but clearly they liked Stalock better...and so do I.

I can actually see the Sharks turning to Stalock at some point. Meanwhile, if Fleury has to be let go I think the Pens would leave Greiss in the backup role and get some help from outside the organization.

I had Stalock earlier this year before I traded him, but the news I was reading about was that the Sharks and most people in hockey had thought that Sateri was the better of the two goalies and even Dobber's guide had Stalock as a backup at best and that Stalock was just a placeholder until Sateri moved up.

I had the choice to trade Stalock or Sateri early this year and traded Stalock. Turns out it was entirely the wrong choice, but everywhere I read said that Stalock was the right choice to move out.

Of the two, Stalock and Greiss, Stalock is likely to start before Greiss based on situations, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's a good fantasy own. I'm very surprised that Stalock is being talked about as being a quality starter and that they should dump (trade, etc.) Niemi. A variety of articles and media and scouts stated, even just this year, that Stalock didn't have what it took to start an entire season in the NHL, even writers on Dobber hockey.

I'm very interested to see where both of these goalies end up and how all of this plays out.

Also, the poll question and the thread topic ask different questions, so I voted for Greiss based on the poll question (who can be an NHL starter), whereas the thread topic is 'Who is the next starter'....either way, it seems most people favour Stalock.

That's weird. I've had my hands on Stalock for three years and I've never seen anything ranking him below Sateri. It's only been "he's our future" that I've seen.
