At this point I think Vlad Jrs baby can do better.

I'm happy Buck is finally critiquing Vlads swing. The hitting coaches have messed him up beyond belief. This philosophy of hitting the ball all over the field, letting the ball enter the zone longer, have a more horizontal bat path just isn't for Vlad.

If the hitting coaching staff is still there in 2024, I don't know...Honestly I rather Donaldson come in and be the hitting coach. Tell the batters to tell their head coaches to shove base hits up their butts.

They averaged 26,475 people the last 3 games. Which is 63.8% of it's capacity (41,500).

To compare, almost exactly a month ago vs Chicago, the average attendance of their 3 game series was 42,120 or 101.5% of their capacity.

Fans don't have money to show up for that product, at that price.

The last 3 yrs the Jays have wasted:
    - CY Young season from Ray
    - MVP nominated season from Semien and Vlad (only to lose to Ohtani)
    - Gold Glove seasons from Semien and Vlad
    - Springers final good years
    - Silver sluggers from Teo, Vlad, Semien and Kirk
    - Cy Young Nominated season from Manoah
    - One of the best pitching staff seasons in recent history
    - Outside shot at Gausman being nominated for Cy Young

The Jays have 0 playoff wins in those 2.9 seasons.

3 years, potentially 3 Cy Young Nominations...2 MVP nominations, 2-3 Gold Gloves, 4 Silver Sluggers, 0 playoff wins.

I did this a while ago. Like back in July when I just couldn't watch them anymore unless they went on a winning streak or at least played well, which didn't happen for any stretch. And I, like every Jay's fan, had really high hopes for this year. Their pitching never instilled any confidence. When they were down after the 6th or 7th inning, it was over. There were no heroics or a 'flare for the dramatics' like there was during Batista's years.

Guerrero was the biggest disappointment in this team's history IMO. He was just brutal and never came through with that big hit when it was needed. I think it's maturity. Nothing seems to bother him, when it should. He's like a spoiled kid. It's ok to have fun, but it's more important for the paying fans to have fun and he seems to not care about that. What a shame.

To me, the only positive from this season was Bo Bichette. He was consistently a threat with every at bat.

Vlad has said in the past the pressure to recreate the MVP finalist season has gotten to him. And the pressure to be "the guy". He's 24yrs old or something. I don't think he's toast. I think his devotion to people older than him telling what to do has effected him more.

His swing is messed up. The talent is there. The coaching staff has ruined him.

He spent a ton of time yesterday (or the day before) in the batting cages trying to work something out. However....he didn't seem to drastically change anything. Which is so weird to me. Why would you not try something completely new instead of tweaking stuff? The coaching staff has let him down from and outside view.

I think Vlad is frustrated, but he is a "depression" frustrated person, not and "angry" frustrated person. If the team isn't doing well, I think he gets really down on himself.

The next thing I'll point out is the lineup. The team has a HORRIBLE approach to at bats when they get in the box. And how many times do we see a 1out, 2out double from this team? There's no consistent pressure. I think Vlad really benefited from a group of power guys around him where the pitcher can't nibble around him and needs to throw at him. A walk to Vlad has no issue to teams. No one on the roster is scary after Vlad really. And if you say Schneider, I'll counter with "he's usually going up with no one on base, or it's 2outs"

I'd honestly take the money that Ryu makes, and go after like Bellinger, or someone that scares teams when they come up to bat. They might actually need 2 guys to do that. Even like Hoskins.

I wouldnt be surprised if they dont try and re-sign Ryu. Not sure if he's getting $20M per again, but he's been excellent coming back from injury.

    From Mike Boboa:
if the blue jays fail to reach the playoffs, expect layoffs including GM ross atkins and hitting coach guillermo martinez. ownership not thrilled with how the season has gone and aren't happy with the way the alek manoah situation has been handled. tensions bubbling over in the 6
Apologies to the lack of capitalization in the above, but that's how Mike tweeted it. He must have done it from a desktop.

    Jays sked:

    3 v BOS (have to win 2)
    3 @ NYY (2)
    3 @ TB (have to take 2)
    3 v NYY (2)
    3 v TB (2)

I would say they have to win 10/15 games to have a shot at WC3. Seattle and Texas play each other 7/16 times in the stretch run. Jays need one of them to go 6-1, meaning a little losing streak while Jays get on a small roll. But the way this team has been all season, I don't see them doing much if they get in anyways. White flag is appropriate.
