I also think Montoyo's managerial style was a bit of a pushover for some of the guys. And he protected players a bit too much at this point in their development. Maybe Schneider is a bit harder on players and hold them more accountable.

There was a rumour that came out that Teo was benched for doing something in the clubhouse, but Montoyo told the media it was just an off day. Which is super protective and like...doesn't do the full effect of a benching if you don't make it public.

I never liked Montoyo's ability to deal with the rotation. I am not saying that's what got him fired, just more that was my personal opinion on why I wasn't a fan of his. IMO, he over-managed the rotation and when to take them out. His feel for the game was overlooked by analytics. I dont know who will replace Montoyo on a full time basis but I hope who ever it is, they have a better feel for the game as it's developing in front of them.

Works in Tampa when anyone in their pen would be a significant upgrade to ours and they just seem to have an endless supply of them.

Bichette said something along the lines of he didn't disagree with the room needing a new voice when asked about the Montoyo firing.

There's 5 days before the trade deadline, Jays should be in on a lot of the K-heavy relievers, touch base on a starter, and chit-chat about Soto likely.

Yankees are reportedly out on Soto, Mets, LAD, Cards, and Padres are apparently also in on Soto with the Jays. Should be interesting where it goes. Also, imagine Toronto just coming out of left field and getting Ohtani? He'd check a lot of their boxes preeeetttyyy quickly lol.

Are there rumours around Ohtani being moved ?

TheScore had a 2/4star trade probability for Ohtani to be moved this yr. The reasoning is they aren't competing, Ohtani likely wants a massive deal the LAA can't afford and he's a UFA in 2024 (1.5seasons of control). He's either being moved in 5days, winter meetings or 2023 July.

    Good to know!
When you need a starting pitcher, and then a power bat, why not get both at once!

LAA want teams top 4 prospects for Ohtani. For Toronto that would be:
    - Moreno (5th in MLB)
    - Martinez (35th in MLB)
    - Tiedemann (62nd in MLB)
    - Groshans (83rd in MLB)

This leaves the Jays with Otto Lopez as their top prospect who isn't in the MLBs top 100.

Great to see Buck back calling Jays games!
It's amazing how much I associate his voice with the Jays, did not realize I would miss him until he was gone.

SPs are flying off the board and the Jays are nowhere to be found. I really hope they don't get Noah.
