Surprisingly Jays are almost even with Cubs on odds to win the World Series.

The Rangers D wasn't what really let them down. Maybe a bit in this game, certainly that situation, but overall it was starting pitching that was our undoing, secondarily the bats went quiet. As diehard Rangers fans we've spent a good portion of the season whistling past the graveyard when looking at that rotation. Hamels and Darvish down the stretch weren't sharp at all. So, yeah, no surprise here about how it all went down against the Jays. Not to take anything away from them, but we were in tough against any team not named the Houston Astros.

They were just bad all-around. But bad defense and mental lapses definitely let them down in the crucial moments.

Game 1 - Tulo's pop fly to center with the bases loaded... reasonable catch for any average fielder. 3 runs score. That's the game right there.
Game 2 - Desmond's hesitation before running for home, allowing Donaldson just enough time to throw him out on what should've been a key late-game run.
Game 3 - Lucroy's inexcusable botched catch that allowed the tying run and of course Odour's bad throw.

Don't get me wrong, Jays outplayed them in every facet of the game, but Texas would have had a legit shot to turn the series around had they won game 3, especially with the short turnaround the next morning for game 4.

No doubt the defense was an issue, still, pitching was the true killer. Had been all season, but more so from July on. Too susceptible to the long ball and big innings. Bad combo against a lineup like the Jays. Just look at how many late inning comebacks, walk offs, and one run wins Texas had. Much as it sucks it went about how I feared it might.

Ah well so it goes. Good luck to the Jays.

That’s a difficult catch for a catcher to make tho. Glove side and low. Toronto is spoiled with Russ catching for them. Dude saves a fair amount of pass-balls.

It’s extremely hard to win a series when you have only 2 SP’s and they don’t do well. If they both lose you games, the teams screwed. You can’t lean on 2-3 guys in the post season and have no one else step up, especially in a 5game series.

Can the Leafs loan Austin Mathews to the Jays? He's already a god in Toronto.

Jays will still low ball Edwin and hope to play him into staying for the fans. Once he sees the 30mill/yr contracts teams are willing to pay him, he’ll likely turn his nose up at the Jays 20mill offer.

With the qualifying offer going up to 17.2mill/yr, it may actually work out in the Jays favour with Bautista. They will Qualify him (if they don’t and he signs with another team, they don’t get a pick back) and maybe he accepts it knowing it’s the most he could get considering the injury riddled yr he had this yr. Plus it’s a pay raise for him too (14mill/yr now)

    Pretty much this.

I could make Edwin a long-term offer too. If he's willing to take like $100 a year.

Fingers crossed he saw Price’s season and attributes that to leaving Toronto. But this is likely Edwin’s last contract, so success for another contract is at the back of his mind. He’s in a win now mode.

Should be a fun series anyway.
I think the Jays have the advantage the next 3 games. The pitching matchup heavily favour them, especially without Bauer going tomorrow.

Season's on the line tonight boys.

Stro-show will step up like he always does for big games, all up to the bats to come alive now.
