Only recently that I've appreciated the quality of this song. It's a regular listen on my ipod.

I think I'd swap out So What? for Jesus Built My Hotrod. The whole Jerry Lee Lewis tribute at the intro makes it worthy of a spot.

Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long
    Yeah, eff it!

There is a Canadian punk band from the 90s called Gob that did a nice cover of Paint it Black.
    Got me into that song.
The Philadelphia Flyers actually used it as their "intro song" in 2007-2008... and I liked it even more.
And their "I hear you calling" was featured in NHL 2002.
So - strong ties for Gob to hockey.

I had never heard that cover before. Not a huge fan but I can see how others could like it.

As for the original, it's the only Stones song I'm a fan of, simply because it was the theme tune for Tour of Duty.

I'm over thinking it, but I'm not happy with my list. Too much metal, not enough rock-n-roll. I'd keep 'Bitch' and Since I've Been Lovin' You', but I'd have to throw out the rest. I'd probably add
Grown So Ugly - Black Keys
It Serves You Right to Suffer - John Lee Hooker
    Manipulation - Black Angels
Nobody's Fault But Mine - Zeppelin
Judith - A Perfect Circle (more metal-ish...but it effin rocks)
Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Texas Flood - SRV
Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots

I like that you're taking this seriously.

    However...

You've removed Nine Inch Nails and AC/DC? Shame on you.

At least you've added Stone Temple Pilots.

    Haha!

I like 'rock' and 'metal' (terms that are so vague nowadays anyway) and have no hesitation including metal in my rock list. Especially as my favourite band (Faith No More) could have been considered borderline metal at one time or another.

I'm going to queue up these lists today at work while I whack away at some programming and see which one I like the best.
