    Hmm... surprised me.
I would think Schneider could get $7m/year on the open market next summer.
But then again... every NHL player has to sign that money-maker contract when they can to set you for LIFE.
One bad year, one awful injury... says the agent.

    I'll predict 3yr x $6.5m per year.

I thought I had read rumblings somewhere that he was looking at like an 8 year deal or something. Maybe I am imagining things.

Luongo taught him the importance of signing for as long as possible if you want a stable and happy career...

It's harder for goalies to cash in on the market. There's generally only one or two teams that need a goalie, and many of them on the market.

Considering Miller was able to get 6 million this isn't surprising even if Schneider has (very) limited experience in a true starter role. Probably a long-term elite goalie right here.

It's a solid signing taking Schneider to age 36. Also the contract has a no-trade.

That's a lucrative contract for a goaltender who's never been a full time starter. He's got a lot of talent, but I'm personally not a fan of signing goaltenders long term. We'll see how this year pans out with him playing 60+ games.

Schneider gets the stability that he never had in Vancouver. It is true that he has never really been a full time starter, but it is hard to argue with his numbers from last year. Despite having a weak team in front of him, Schneider had a 1.97 GA and a .921 S%.

i actually thought it was a bit much, but if miller got paid i guess thats the bar.
ending it at age 36 is probably good for the devils as then they can decide where there at and dont have to pay an aging goalie. he should still be relevant right through to the end of his contract.
