No way Ryan Johansen is captain material after this "holdout" type situation going on right now. Maybe down the line, but it wouldn't be a good message to send to the club by giving this kid a letter.

I'm all for Jack Johnson as well. The Wiz gets injured far too often and your Captain should at least be playing. Same reason I don't like Horton as Captain. If Dubinsky gets the C, look for a downward trend in his penalty minutes. Shouldn't be a new guy (Hartnell) and I have my doubts in Johansen as well, not only due to his contract situation, but the pressure to repeat his breakout season will be immense and he doesn't need all that comes with being the Captain as well. That has disaster written all over it.

I don't profess to know either of these guys all that well, but I just get a feeling that being named Captain wouldn't affect JJ's game as much as it would Dubi. I love the way both of these guys play and either would be a great choice for the C in my opinion.

Interesting stat: 18 of the current NHL captains are forwards compared to just 6 defensemen. Six spots are currently vacant though so that ratio could change
