I traded him for Hackett because I wasn't planning on keeping either goalie and Buffalo had 1 game left, Winnipeg had 0. Hackett got injured while the trade was being processed so I didn't even get the 1 game. Who's the better goalie to own Hutchinson or Hackett?

    Thanks Dobber!
I never considered Hutchison with any potential at all. Prior to this season he's been horrible and I would have bet against him ever being even a backup. But this past season was extraordinary. He was behind great teams in the AHL and ECHL, so I would attribute his success due to that.

That being said, the Jets don't officially have a backup yet and last time they weren't afraid to give that job to Montoya. Would they do the same with Hutchinson even though Pasquale is their next up-and-comer and even though Montoya, Stalock and Johnson are free agents? I have a hard time believing that they give Hutchinson that chance based on one year. So I would rather own Hackett for sure, but it's no big loss - Hackett is losing stock

I think Nino takes baby steps for the next couple of years yet

Callahan is a second-line guy no matter where he lands. But the guy can't stay healthy and I wouldn't count on more than 65 games.

So basically it's whoever goes 2nd this year NHL draft to me, Hamilton to him. Severson seems like a decent prospect but we can't carry too many prospects with our league settings (no farm system). Salary is a consideration, as Hamilton is in the last year of his entry level deal.

I've already been back and forth with him offering him packages involving other of my dmen (Leddy, Goligoski etc) for the 2nd pick, but no dice - he wants Hamilton.
I think you can do better. 20th overall next year is like 10th overall this year. Draft is way better. Best to walk away I think

    Great thread Dobber

Would it be lunacy for me to trade Mike Green for Ryan O'Reilly plus a pick?
To be truthful I don't exactly know how O'Reilly fits in COL. Top 6 with a very bright future? Could he hit 70 points next season? What about his upside?

    Thanks as always.

Hi Dobber, thanks for that response but I'm hoping you'll re-visit without factoring in my 2015 pick at all. There are only 24 guys in the pool, and we only assign (based on the finish the season before) the first 24 picks of the NHL entry draft each year. Which means NHL entry pick 25 onwards are available to anyone for pick up. I've won the last 5 years and I'm fairly confident I'll finish top 3 next year. So having the 22, 23 or 24 overall pick isn't worth much when you consider anyone could pick up 25. I hold (I acquired via trade) a couple of other guys' 2015 picks which will be better than mine. All of which is to say that I value my 2015 pick as worth basically nothing. With that extra info in mind, do you think in my league you would trade Hamilton for whoever picks Buffalo 2nd? Bit of a crap shoot b/c it's hard to say who will go 2nd, and Buffalo isn't exactly a great landing spot for any prospect. But then there's the extra 2 years of entry level deal which I'd be acquiring. Thanks

Can you help me construct an offer? Thanks Dobber!

fyi, he has turned down Voracek, Kreider, Perron, Burns for Karlsson, pick and countered with Seguin + Strome + Jones + Kreider for Karlsson + pick.
I would give up Hall and Jones to get this done. But start with Hall and Niskanen.

I would also be good with adding a good pick or good prospect to the final offer
