I don't think so, although you may be right. There were several factors that led to the demise of the Barons. A franchise today would start day 1 already ahead of the Barons, who didn't even play in downtown Cleveland.Originally Posted by Axeman33

No. Why would Cleveland make any sense for an NHL franchise? It's a dying city, the population is almost back to what it was in the early part of the century. There are so many better options for a franchise

Unless you recently moved, the city has grown, and is continuing to grow. I agree that it was a dump, and probably still is in comparison to other cities. But the casino, a relevant Browns team, and the hypothetical NHL franchise would cause a huge boom there.
By the way, it makes no sense to refute the topic if you stopped where you said you did. So a historical look at the Barons is reason to become disgusted and stop reading? While my feelings are anything but hurt, it still doesn't add up.

Your article is from 2011, whereas the the Horseshoe Casino opened in 2012.
I've always thought that "putting" makes more sense in that phrase, but after reading up on it, you are right in that it was misused. Rough critic
