    Default Is Voynov a bust???

Disastrous year, pretty much zero PP time and Muzzin/Martinez seem to have passed him. Will he bounce back next year and beyond or are we seeing the future right now??

Contemplating a move that involves Voyo but I hate giving up on young D. Would appreciate your take!

he's a solid defenseman who is good at everything but not great enough offensively to be consistent. like so many others, he'll bounce around between 20 and 50 points.

I'll narrow that gap down to about a consistent 35 points guy.

A lot of it has to do with the system the kings play. I do not see anything more than 35 points as long as Sutter is there. Just look at Doughty's numbers to see the Sutter effect

Shipped him for Kari Lehtonen, who is pretty studly (top 7) in our format. Tough but I agree with above. Solid enough but not the stud I was hoping he would emerge as. The Kings run has solidified Sutter for another couple of years and I don't see anyone outside of Doughty topping 45 points.

I recently added Edler so it softened the blow

    Thanks a lot

One year isn't changing my mind on him. Muzzin was the flavor of the month last year, Martinez was this year. If it doesn't work out in LA, Voynov will be a 50+ guy elsewhere. Give it four years, he'll be the top producing defenseman on the LA Kings roster today (maybe not for LA though)

I agree that he can be very good but 4 years is a long time to wait unless you don't have many better options.

Pencil him in as a 30-35 point guy for now - he has the ability to hit 50 but that's the peak in the very best situation.

Yes, but this is the wait time for most good fantasy defensemen

I wouldn't call Voynov a bust, definitely not. But I think the hype got a little too out of hand. He should be a solid 35-45 option - eventually maybe more depending on the situation.

Sounds like you did okay flipping him for a top-7 'tender, even if you do only start one at a time. Nice insurance policy/trade bait when someone gets desperate.

I've been a big Voynov supporter from early on, having him on my roto keeper farm team for years. Early this season (with my team's Voynov & Streit both struggling, Letang in and mainly out, & in a tight battle for the top spot which I knew would go on all season), I started looking around to bolster my starting 5 d-men. Took awhile, but on Dec 31 I moved Streit, Voynov & Timmy Thomas for Hedman & Brian Elliott. Hedman was on the verge of exploding, while Elliott gave me quality St Louis starts behind my flailing duo of Rinne & Luongo. Streit went on to have a decent second half in Philly, but he's old and on the decline. I'll always be watching Voynov, love his game, will be fun to see if Dobber's 4-year prediction about him comes true (I think it will be with another team, too). But I'm quite happy to have Hedman as a keeper d-man for the next decade.

If the schedules line up then it is gold having two solid starters in my league. Means having a stud in net almost every night. Workhorses like MAF and Lehtonen even more valuable. I also have followed Voyo for years and planned on owning him for a good while, but with having Hedman and Josi already, it made losing Voyo to studify my tenders worth doing.

I'm not sure what is the issue here. Voynov has a down year and still grossly out-produced both Muzzin and Martinez. Careers have ups and downs. Voynov is fine. He might be a bit overrated but still LA's #2 option on defense.

I agree that he will be a stud, I'd bet most of us are in limited keepers or just one years over full keepers... So we want that fifty two percent prediction on what year to draft?
