Ya Blayze. It's crazy how off the rails the show is now to the books. To all of the book-readers who have been amused because of the spoilers they have been providing intentionally to the show-watchers, I say LOL! We need book spoilers and show spoilers now!

The Shireen scene was heartbreaking to watch, and even though it hasn't happened in the books, we all could see that they were building up to something like this. It's also interesting that the scene with Shireen and Stannis just a couple of episodes ago, really made people cheer for Stannis and got people in his corner. Where are these people now? Wow...

Yah I definitely think the show is going to steal a lot of the thunder from Books 6-7.

Some of this stuff is made up, but it looks like they are ultimately converging on the same ending (ie: Daenerys/Jon/???), which will spoil a lot of things from the upcoming books.

So 3 more seasons of Game of thrones on HBO (8 seasons total)....and 15 more years till the completion of Martin's story.

I think book readers will be ok and probably surprised again by the time it gets to the end.

    Touche...

Is it only 8 seasons total? I thought it was 10. Wow that's kind of a let down... this is one of those shows I never want to see end!

Wow. I think Game of Thrones broke the internet. Did you think episode 8 was crazy??? I would say season 5 was the slowest building of all of the seasons so far, but they blew the roof off with the season finale...

    I haven't seen season 5... (and I won't comment on the books, which I'm reading through a 2nd time)...
But mercy, I can't believe that the show actually took ALL of the best stuff from Books 4 & 5 and put them in ONE season.
[I read the finale review - I knew I'd hear it from conversations... so I decided I might as well read what HBO covered...]

I mean, they took book 3 and broke it into TWO season: Season 3 & Season 4.
Then they take books 4 & 5 and put it in just ONE season: Season 5.

I have my theories on this actually... and that is: TIMING.
I think GRRM/HBO have already set everything up so that Book 6 (Winds of Winter) is TIMED to come out with Season 6, Episode 1 on HBO.
In other words, expect the book for April 2016.
That way, both the readers & watchers get their answer to: IS ____ _____ _____ _____?.... at the same time.

    BTW - I've gone ASOIAF hard-core.
Got the WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE off Amazon for $25.
Yeah - I've read the 283 year reign of the Targaryens from start-to-finish.
    I'm a dork.

I read that too... the section on Targaryen history is the only part of that book that is worth reading. The rest is just garbage filler. Can't say that I'm surprised, it's written by people who run that unofficial blog, and Martin simply put his name on it to lend it credibility.

There were rumblings that Harrington was signed to season 6 earlier on which led everyone to buy into the Targaryen theory, but now there's this... so I'm not sure what to believe anymore lol

They combined book 4 and 5 into one season because let's be serious....a lot of it was filler. Im lucky that I came on to the book series during/after season 1 was on. I can't even imagine being someone who read SoS when it came out in 2000!!!!!!!!!! and seeing that ending, and then realizing FfC doesn't even have half of my favorite characters....AND THEN realizing that in DwD Tyrion and Dany don't even meet up....cmon. Was that really necessary. I just think GRRM could have condensed a lot of things because in the end we all know what it's going to come down to and that's why it's called the Song of Ice and Fire.

And this whole supposed issue between the producers and GRRM shouldn't even exist because they should have seen the overlap coming considering GRRM took 5 and 6 years to write books 4 and 5...

I actually think all of the following can potentially happen:

    1. Jon Snow of the Night's Watch is dead. Physically... dead.
    2. There is still a role for Kit Harrington to play... but it's not the Jon Snow we know.
    3. Jon Snow character shall live on.

    In simpler terms:
    Mix:
1 cup: End of the movie: Fallen
    1 cup: Walking Dead

That's how I believe both the book & show will play out.
(BTW - this is not a spoiler. Just extrapolated from what is known in EITHER show or book.)

Are you trying to cryptically suggest that Jon Snow will be King of the White-walkers???

That's what I originally inferred (never watched Fallen) but your comment about him riding a dragon threw me off lol
