    Default Jimmy Hayes

He now has 4 goals in his last five games, most of them from in front of the net.
Does he have any actual long-term upside? I have him on my junior roster in the league in my sig, and have to decide whether to cut him or promote him (and cut someone else) within the next ten games. Is it worth buying Gagne or another forward out for him? At this point in the season, the cap hit cost of buying out doesn't factor much into the equation.

He is worth a shot in deeper leagues. Not a sure bet by any means but his size/skill make it possible for him to be a decent scoring line guy if it all comes together. Might be peaking later like other giants.

Edit: you mean Sam Gagner right?

I don't really have another drop candidate. I do have to trade for some help on D though.

I was hoping the Hawks would let Bickell walk last summer and just promote this guy, but instead they signed Bickell to maybe the worst contract in the league.

Hayes does have some upside.... He'll never be a star or anything but could see time on a 2nd line with the potential for some nice PP production. I just don't know if he's a better choice than anyone on your roster though.

While Jimmy has been fantastic latley his upside is limited. He will not get top 6 minutes next season with Viola opening the pockets and the other more talented guys like Trochek and Pirri come in. In a deep league he might be worth it since he will get some PP time next season to stand in front of the net and pot a few.

Third line upside at best. Late bloomer but still never expect more than Bryan Bickell like production. Wouldn't waste a roster spot on a player with such a limited upside. His brother Kevin who is arguably the best player in college hockey this season has much higher offensive upside and is someone who should be your radar in keeper leagues well ahead of Jimmy.
