Such a tough player to value. On the one hand he might just be the new Matt Moulson, a good player, whose numbers become great when placed in a position to succeed (alongside Tavares).
On the other, he has been productive even without Tavares in the lineup and has a real chance to break 70 points this year. I see him as very similar in value to Voracek in Philly – both gifted high draft picks (Okposo was taken 7th overall) and in a good situation for linemates. Neither shoots a ton (220-240) but they should be a reliable source of points moving forward.
I would value him as a 60-65 point player with decent peripherals and be pleasantly surprised if he gives you more than that.
Where do you have him next year?
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.
