Earliest I see him in the lineup is Saturday, and that's absolute earliest. Monday next week or even the following game seems more likely. But let's say Saturday (18 games)...how many points this year? I'll put the over/under at 8.5 due to the fact that it may be 17 or even 16 games.

Not really sure this is accurate. Traktor's season will be over in about 2 hours and while Kuzy won't technically be a FA until KHL free agency starts, there is a pretty long precedent of KHL teams not holding their players back from going to the NHL immediately (Radulov, Soderberg off the top of my head)Originally Posted by Excelsior

You'd think there has to be a date for the expiration of his contract, not just the season's final game. Then again, I could be completely wrong there as i have no idea how the KHL contracts work.

Yeah, it would expire whenever free-agency period occurs in KHL I'm assuming. It would work similarly to how NHL contracts expire on July 1, or whatever it is. How it would work, though, is that he and his team (Traktor) would negotiate a release from his contract, thus allowing him to pursue a new contract in the NHL with Washington. There's plenty of precedent for it, as other posters have mentioned (i.e. Radulov).

Keep in mind, he is not in the position of negotiating an NHL contract, the most he can sign for is the rookie max and bonus in the year drafted as an Entry level deal for 2 years... I've seen 900K as the number, I dunno if that is correct and I don't think that includes the bonus...
Just saying his NHL contract will not be a sticking point cause he can't make more that allotted by the NHL...
Yes players are signed until the free agency period for that lg, they are paid per day (per where they are, 2 ways contracts), but receive checks weekly like you or I... Cap geek shows daily over the course of a season, but that's pro rated for cap reasons and is not accurate in terms of $$$ to player obviously... Teams pay for a player until free agency to use for promotions post season and in the summer... (players usually have a certain number of promo appearances per year worked into their contracts)... This is why his agent likely posted the message about He still being owned by Traktor, as he will likely have to give up some of his money he signed for and an official release and the terms may not be fully signed and released, who's to say the team does not have a post season appearance they wish for him to appear in tomorrow before his release & he leaves...
It's stuff that's really beyond most of us, but it won't hold up the process to much, just makes people vibrate waiting for official word... as Dobber mentioned, He has a bunch of stuff to do the rest of the week before he plays, not only contract, insurance, NHLPA documents, VISA, physical (this will be interesting to see if they find anything, unlikely, but you could see them uncover something small due to his injury earlier this year but they won't release it)...
