Studs and Duds - Friday October 25th
Studs
Matt Duchene
Duchene recorded two goals an an assists tonight as the Avalanche beat the Hurricanes 4-2 tonight. With 15:25 toi, Duchene led the Aves in shots and points.
First Goals
Rasmus Ristolainen and Ryan Murray both scored their first NHL goals last night. Ristolainen scored Buffalos first of the night to help aid the Sabres comeback while Murray scored the first of the night against Toronto. Murray has been even more impressive quarterbacking the Blue Jackets powerplay tonight.
Jhonas Enroth
Enroth was nothing short of spectacular for Buffalo tonight stopping 44/45 shots against Florida. Enroth finished the night with a .978 save percentage helping Buffalo get their second win of the season. Ryan Miller may be looking at a bench warming position if Buffalos goaltending keeps up this way.
Duds
Jonathan Bernier
Allowing four goals on 35 shots last night, Jonathan Bernier and the Toronto Maple Leafs were terrible against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Toronto needs Reimer healthy to promote a battle for that number one starting job as Bernier is showing a lack of consistency in net.
Pittsburgh's Backup Situation
Jeff Zatkoff allowed four goals on 25 shots against the Islanders. Unless Pittsburgh is ok with dropping every game that Fleury doesn't start, it's going to be a rough road for the penguins.
Not the best article, but on my cellphone on a bus in South Korea. Don't have my usual sources. All opinions are welcome!
