Well I\'m American and I do, it probably has something to do with the fact that I\'m from Minnesota and grew up playing though. Yes, it the US it\'s more of a regional following but there are still many passionate hockey fans. Either way comments like that aren\'t going to earn Tiger any more fans, not that he needs any more anyway.its just fact...

Some pockets of the US love hockey, some only love hockey when the team is winning, and some places shouldn\'t even have a team at all.
I liked when Milbury called him Tiger Wuss on TSN, talking about arthroscopic knee surgury keeping him out for two months compared to Ryan Malone getting his face smashed in by a slapshot and not missing a shift.
Tiger should also think about how no one would be watching golf if he wasn\'t around.
...if I might add, we are currently dating, and she is quite a handful in the bedroom...
There was another forum on this tiger issue but after reading the yahoo article I\'m even more pissed off.
I just spend a week in West Virginia and ppl there are huge Pens fans. Glad to see small pockets in the US that love their hockey. I have been there whn they have struggled so ppl are not just cheering cause of the pens doing well.

I know last year I had an eye opener. I took a vacation down in
South Carolina the beginning of last summer. The girls took us
outlet shopping in Mertle Beach. I went into this hat store that
had hundreds of different hats (maybe even a couple thousand).
Anyway long story short there were literately hundreds of
college basket ball, hundreds of football, hundreds of baseball,
etc... I found ONE hockey
hat. ONE. It was a Hurricans hat, which was on the bottom of the
wall stack (essentially on the floor under everything else).
This when a year after they won the cup (Ducks would win it in
a couple of weeks). This illistrated to me
better than anything else how americans (generally) feel about the
sport. Yes I know there are pocket markets out there, but wow was
I blown away.

Truth. last year when I was in NC...not even on the mainland...there were some crazy fanatics and tons of merchandise in the stores, among other showings of team loyalty. I was down there just before they won the cup too, and man...it was intense!
It may have taken a cup win to REALLY spur mass support, but you\'d be surprised at how many hardcore fans there are.
