winning the Stanley Cup at 3am

Yesterday\'s game make me think that the Cup can be won in the middle of the night. It\'s not good for the game. I have to go to sleep cos I\'m have to go to work this morning. What should be done? 4 against 4? shootout?

nothing...... this is playoff hockey..... double and triple OT make for a great stanley cup final.

I remember when the Olympics were in Nagano, Japan and Canada\'s games were at 3 and 4am. I was tired the next day but it was worth it to me. It made 2002 in Salt Lake that much more sweeter..

I can\'t imagine how many fans would stop watching the playoffs if shootouts or 4 on 4 were implemented, thats why the playoffs are what they are. I love the long games, watching the players give everything they have, keeping hydrated, and just hoping they aren\'t the ones who make the big mistake..

We should just be thankful there are no games on the west coast... a 10 pm start going into triple overtime... that\'s when you get into trouble... the 8pm starts aren\'t that bad...and you call yourself a hockey fan?? Suck it up princess and get some caffeine into you

i think it\'s great for the game and it bonds everyone watching together.

baseball can go on forever too, and sometimes it has....hockey is not alone in this respect.

Hockey is never gonna be as big in the US. Leave hockey the way it is and make all Canadians happy.

I watched the stars and nucks go in 4OT last playoffs and it didn\'t end until 4am on the east coast ... I couldnt sleep after Hank scored and just stayed up and went to work. Now thats playoff hockey at its best.

This years Dal vs SJ was one of the best games if not the best game of the year and it went to 4OT

Maybe it\'s time for Dick Bettman to realize that he can\'t sell the game of hockey to your average blue collar American and stop trying to put a franchise in Las Vegas and Kansas City. People go to Las Vegas to gamble... not to watch ice hockey in the middle of the desert. We already have one desert team... that\'s plenty!

Might as well just try and keep the fanbase that you have happy.

I love it when games that long it makes it that much more better of a game. I was hoping for 4OT I could stay up throw any games that go that long I dont give a shit.:laugh:

no really dude, don\'t even suggest such a horrendous proposal, Bettman might overhear you and try to implement it. Shootouts turn the quintessential team game into a skills competition. Even the times we won in international competitions on shootouts it just felt horribly dirty and wrong
