Dan frick'n Cleary who was a UFA and no longer a problem for the team and as a result Nyquivst is back in the AHL. Keep in mind this is a team that already has old man Saumuelson and old man Bertuzzi in the top 6 as well. I think Nyquist is the more fantasy relivant of the two prospects here and it seems inevidable he will succeed but I am starting to really question red wings prospect handling and line combinations.
Is there another Detroit Red Wings franchise I should be made aware of? As far as I know there was only the one that's sitting 1st overall in the Atlantic division

Seriously though, I can understand the frustration of all the Nyquist owners out there but you simply can not argue against the success of the Detroit franchise. Detroit is trying to win now, not develop players at the NHL level.......fantasy stats are not the concern of NHL ownership groups, GM's or coaches.

We can argue their success when they haven't won anything in 5 years. Nyquist is an upgrade on at least Cleary, Bert, and Samuelsson. Probably Alfredsson.

    Scheifele without hesitation!!!

Nyquist is 24 freakin years old yet still gets treated like a prospect for some reason. Most 24 year olds getting his sort of production in the AHL have been relegated to the scrap heap on most people's lists but I guess people cling to the 'Detroit Factor' and figure that in any other franchise he'd be a star by now.

Just to put in in perspective, here is a small list of the NHL Stars who are younger than Nyquist....almost every player drafted from 2007 until now!!!!! This list becomes almost a 'who's who' of the future and current greats of the NHL yet Nyquist has 13 points in 40 NHL games and he's ranked ahead of the 7th overall pick of the 2011 draft?

I'd bet the Detroit brass would be over the moon if Winnipeg offered a straight swap of Scheifele for Nyquist.

And by 'won anything' I'm certain you're not talking about hockey games. So you're correct, they haven't won the cup but after the loss of Lidstrom most didn't even think they'd make the playoffs and they took the cup champs to a 7th game in the 2nd round. I'd love to hope for a team as 'unsucessful' as that

That's almost as meaningful as the Leafs taking Boston to 7 games

Read up on Detroit's cap and contract situation before you make such a comment...

Wings fans have been tearing their hair out about Tatar and Nyquist not getting enough playing time for a loooooooooong time. Holland just refuses to cut his losses with some unnecessary/bad UFA signings and makes more of them (Cleary).

Then watch a few games of Nyquist and you'll see why he's so highly regarded.
    GO WINGS!
