Spezza for package

I know i brought it up b4 and ppl shot it down...but now the guy is offering roy, samsonov and budaj, or roy williams and samsonov for spezza stright up...

I\'m loaded riht now...but that seems like a decent deal..\\

best player aside that seems like a good move for me...maybe i could sweeten it by making it budaj, JUSTIN Williams, and roy...maybe even weasel a pick or something too.

would i be dumb/drunk to accept this offer??>

not even close. DO NOT deal spezza for that package of junk. roy is a preety good producer but the others are a waste of my typing. spezza is an elite fantasy player and demands MUCH more in return. dont fool yourself.

I dont rate Spezza nearly as high as everyone else on these boards, but I still would not do that deal. You should be able to get more if you shopped him. People think he is awesome. I think he is over-rated and a band-aid boy.

If you are set on moving him, do not be happy with samsonov.
As you mentioned Justin Williams and Derek Roy, both provide you with 80+ pts, are young, and will increase pt totals in the future. That alone is pretty good.

But, I see no tender that I like, at all. Instead of the G, probe for a top pick - take a G or D (as you need) in your draft.

I would not trade Spezza either.

If you accepted the deal, you are getting two players, Williams and Samsonov, from the same team. Not an ideal situation. Williams is also coming off knee surgery. It might take him awhile to get going. Samsonov does not excite me at all.

I like Derek Roy but would prefer to have Spezza.

Of the goaltenders, Lehtonen is the one that I would prefer to own. Not sure what is going to happen with Budaj or Theodore in Colorado.

You mention that the \'other\' gm is untouchable with Crosby. If you trade him Spezza. You and the rest of your league have just fallen further behind.

I don\'t see anything positive coming out of this deal for you.

I know Nash isn\'t where his ceiling is yet, but you should be getting AT LEAST NASH for Spezza. Untouchable is crap...you have to trade your best forward but he can\'t trade Nash...no deal man, you need an overpayment for Spezza b/c you\'re thin up front. (another thread )

Exactly.

You should be treating your Spezza the same way he is treating Crosby. Spezza is the value guy on your team right now. Make sure you get good return, and Diamond is right about Nash not being in the same tier as Spezza, at least not yet.

I am also not in love with Spezza as much as many posters but he is a stud as long as he is part of that Sens machine. Anytime you are proposed a bag of pucks for a stud, you have to ask yourself two things.

1. Can you get a better offer from another owner if you feel you HAVE TO move the Stud.

2. Are all the pieces coming my way better than guys you have starting right now?

ALWAYS shop the stud if you have a feelng you HAVE TO pull the trigger. Let owners know Spezza is going to be dealt and let them start a bidding war. I dont know how many times a stud has gotten traded when the rest of the leage had NO IDEA he was even available. That is just bad business. You want someone to overpay YOU for Spezza. Kinda like when Joe Thornton was dealt by Boston.

Roy is a real good player. I see him taking the next steps to being one of Buffalo\'s key offensive stars for a long time. Williams is good solid value. Budaj is not worth moving a STUD to accquire. Avoid Samsonov at all costs. He is just an owner trying to profit from a hot season at the end of a players career. Dont fall for that.

Yeah I like the idea of letting people know your thinking of moving him. Making a quick post is a legit move and could incite a bidding war.

Also this deal is BAD! Yeah you get some dece3nt young talent but you are giving up a potential game breaker. Yes he is a band aid boy but what happens next season or the following, when he stays healthy and posts 100+ points? The increase from the first offer is fairly insignifigant IMO, and I would strongly consider not dealing with this owner. It is clear he wants a one sided deal. For the record you are almost always losing in a 3 for 1 (I said ALMOST).

As mentioned before I would send out an email to the entire league saying Spezza is available and you are looking to move him. Sit back and watch offers come flying in... odds are there\'s some Sens fan out there getting blue balls over the fact that Spezza is available and will give up his house and kids along with whatever you want for him... Start a bidding war, why should you have to do all the leg work?
