    Default Nichushkin (overhyped?) vs Scheifele

I feel like Nichushkin is extremely overhyped on the boards right now. If I'm competing this year but also with an eye towards the future, would I be better served choosing between the following:

    Nichushkin
    Scheifele
    Strome

other options would include guys like Toffoli, Granlund.
10 Team Limited Keeper (Keep 8) Points Only
    SALARY CAP (Player Salaries) League
    20 Player Teams = 12 Fwd 6 D 2 G

    My team: ???

How so? What's not to like? He has size, speed, great skills and will probably make the team this season. There's a reason this hockey community is going bonkers over this guy.

The only guy on that list that could be as good or better then Nichushkin for me is Strome, but I'd still take Nichushkin over him.

Very interesting. I feel like Nichuskin is actually underhyped for the most part. Honestly think he's going to be a completely special player. But maybe he'll Zherdev his way to certain doom.

I'm a big believer in Nichushkin, however, I slightly prefer Strome if given the choice between the two. Also I'd take Toffoli next, followed closely by Scheifele then Granlund. FYI.

    So it would be:

    Stome
    Nichushkin
    Toffoli
    Scheifele
    Granlund

And no, Nichushkin isn't overhyped at all IMO. He should've gone at worst fifth overall right after Jones IMO.

Man, why'd you have to go mention Zherdev? Such a buzzkill.

I take Nichushkin over any of them right now and I'm one of the biggest bears going in the Russian player market. I've thought this kid was special since watching him at the world juniors so nothing new here.

In fairness, there's always one or two guys who get way overhyped in the community before the season starts, so I see the validity of the questions. I' have no idea if that applies to Nishkinin. I've been burned by the Dobber board kool-aid a couple of times, so I'm also cautious when it comes to hyped rookies.
That being said, these instances are usually only one or two a season so overall the good FAR outweighs the bad.

if you asked me if any of those guys were overhyped, i'd tell you it was Strome.

i'd say Nichushkin is a clear notch above the rest in terms of skill and upside. however if you want safe, go with Scheifele.

If you're competing right now, I have no idea why you wouldn't like Nichuskin here.

I like his chances both of making the team and playing meaningful minutes in D more than Strome. Ruff has been playing him a lot in the pre-season and says that he's an "easy guy to play".

Not that one game is a good sample, but I saw Nichuskin play in an exhibition game last Friday against Florida. He looked like a kid among men, a bit lost and not real active. He got knocked off the puck easily and I went away with a poor impression. Of course, these things go away with development time, but from that look, I would say that he's not ready. On Dallas right now, I would keep Chiasson over Nichuskin, he appears to be more ready. In a draft, I would take Scheifele any day over Nicushkin. Scheifele is a natural talent, has had some solid development time despite good camp showings, and has great opportunity in Winnipeg.

I ended up with both Scheifele and Nichushkin.

Wishing I'd have drafted Granlund instead of Nich, but Dallas has only played 2 games.

This list is perfect long term imo. Scheifele is the best player right now.
