Default Keep 7 from a winning team

    Hello everyone,

Thanks to the help of the Dobber nation I was able to win my 2nd league in 5 years. Now as we start up agin with the league below, I can only save 7 in whatever positions I want.

I will be picking 10th and the 11th in the draft after we select keepers, and goalies go fast in our league.

The guys I'm thinking of keeping are
    F- Neal, Benn, Eberle
    D- Weber, Doughty?
G- Rask, Markstrom (investment and lots of starts?)

I have problems letting go of guys like Keith, Max Pac, Voracek, but don't have much of a choice.

What do you all think? What would be your 7?

    Thanks a lot,
    8 Team H2H 4 Keepers, Roster of 20
    Nightly Lineup: Play 12 (6-7F, 4D, 1-2G)
    Stats: G(4), A(2), +/-(1), SOG(.5), PIM(.5), PPG(1), SHG(2), GWG(2), SHOG(1), W(5), SO(5), SVs(.2)

F: Neal, Eberle, Benn, Wheeler, MacKinnon, Marleau, Huberdeau, Lucic, Silfverberg, Hartnell, Stepan
    D: DelZotto, Edler, Green, Wideman
G: Rask, Price, Dubnyk, Nabokov, Fasth

With your scoring i wouldnt be keeping a defenseman.

    F: Neal Eberle, Benn, Voracek,Yakupov
    G: Rask, Dubnyk,

This would be my 7. I have faith that Edmonton turns the corner this year and I like what Dubnyk has done so far.

I'd not be letting Yakupov go. He did his rookie toil and performed well. he'll be worth owning long term and i'd sacrifice the 10 points max pac might get over him for that upside. If you dont own him now you may not be able to own him again moving forward.

The rest are easy. To me its just not viable taking a dman over a forward without having defenseman centric stats.

This a tough one, your league favours goalies and offence and PIMS, it is clear why goalies move fast, how fast do the D move come draft? If the D is undervalued I'd keep the following:
Rask, Neal, Eberle, Benn, Paciorety, Weber, Keith

Package Doughty, Markstom and Voracek for better picks in the first round.
    14 Team Cap League, 20 Keeper,4 C, 8 W, 6 D, 15 Prospects
    Forwards G,A,+/-, 1/3 PIMS
    Goalie, Wx2, SOx3, GAA, SVP, G,A,1/4PIM
C: Backes, Kesler, Johansen, Johnson, Karlson, Wennberg, Gagner
W: Parise, Hartnell, Simmonds, Kucherov, Callahan,Steen, Coyle, Maroon, Attkinson, Lowry, Lupul, Morin, Stalberg
D: Letang, Subban, Keith, Klingberg, Del Zotto, Savard, Larsson, Schultz, Gudas
    G: Fleury, Quick
Prospects: (Less then 42 games in a season)
    C: Nick Shore
W: Beck, Erne, Paul, Duclair, Mashinter, Pakarinen
    D: Percy, Gormley,
    G: Khubodin, Hellebuyck

    I would keep :
    Rask
    Voracek
    Benn
    Neal
    Weber
    Eberle
    Yakupov
    12 teams keeper league (keep 6 + 1 rookie) H2H points only

Rookie = less than 23 years old and never reached 60pts for a forward / 40 pts for a D

    Start : C RW LW S D D G
    Points are : A/G = 1 pt W = 2 pts SO = 1pt

    C - Seguin Giroux Stepan
LW - Huberdeau (R) Parise Tlusty
RW - Eberle Hornqwist Hemsky Scheifele
D - Schultz Gardiner Goligoski Brodie Sekera Zidlicky
G - Fleury Crawford Raanta Greiss

Whoever said, 'It's not whether you win or lose that counts,' probably lost.

    F: Neal,Eberle, Benn, Wheeler, Yakupov,
    G: Rask, Dubnyk,

Your format i wouldn't keep the D-men unless karlsson or Letang. Listen to the above advice and try to package some guys for better keepers or higher picks. Trade Pacioretty to a habs fan.
I like Wheeler - jets fan, first line, pp - so if you like Voracek then keep him

I normally don't say this but...

    I agree with Mattp!

    I appreciate all the advice.

Clearly the consensus is for Neal, Benn, Eberle and Yak. Rask is a no brainer.

That leaves 2 spots, pretty much between MaxPac, Weber and Dubnyk.
Using FHG weighted ranking based on Dobber's predictions, there is only those big 3 forwards that should top 500 fantasy points in our league.

-MaxPac would be ranked as 17th forward with 388 fantasy points.
-Weber would be 4th ranked Defenseman with 306 fantasy points.
-Dubnyk would be 17th ranked goalie, but is project to make me around 517 points.

I also am nervous picking 10th in draft (with no trading to different spot) that I would not have a chance to pick up a decent 2nd tier goalie. The other teams tend to hang on to their decent goalies as keepers.

So given those 3 up above, and my situation, would you still take a chance and drop Duby or drop Weber or Max Pac and draft guys that are comparable?

Thanks again, you have all made this a lot easier.

With a H2H lineup and nightly changes, and 2G's counting, I could definitely understand why you'd keep Dubnyk. If the goalie market will be thin, then yeah, he seems to be worth a spot in that format.

Based on your scoring settings, this is who I'd be keeping. I'm not happy about suggesting you to not keep Wheeler or Voracek.

F: Neal, Pacioretty, Eberle, Benn, Yakupov
    G: Rask, Dubnyk

Based on what Dubnyk is projected to earn for your team, you'd be a fool not to keep him along with Rask.

Looking at it that way I'd have no problem keeping Dubnyk over Weber especially drafting 10th. As far as MaxPac or Voracek...it's a gut feeling about Voracek, nothing more.

Benn, Eberle, Neal, Yakupov, Pacioretty and Rask for sure.

If you think most teams will keep 2 goalies then you protect Voracek - if you think most teams will protect 1 goalie then you protect Dubnyk.
