    Leafs,

Although the results appear to be unanimous so far, in the future I suggest you provide all the valid information required up front to ensure the most complete advice. If it weren't Heatley but someone better then it would be a pointless exercise as we don't know which Richards you are talking about. Furthermore, a lot of keeper decisions can depend on the rest of your roster, the number of keepers and the type of league (thanks for adding that later but would be better up front).

Someone should really clarify which Richards this is.

Sorry my bad. Horrorfan you are right. Usually I am more detailed but I had an offer come by when I was at work and needed to get a quick response.

It is Brad Richards. All input is appreciated.

I accept the trade got Brad Richards, 1st round last pick in entry draft and Cody Eakin (can stash on my minors team) for Heatley.

Now need to work on improving my D

Wow, did you at least take him out to dinner first? If it was Mike Richards at least it would be somewhat understandable, but assuming - points only or majority - that package with Brad Richards is a big win.

    Default Richards in a Heartbeat

Heatley just had his shoulder completely reconstructed. There are very few players who come back 100% from that, and even fewer who do it at his age. Man, even RNH looks like he could be damaged goods in short order with his nagging shoulder problems.
    The League:
11-teams, pts-only, no positional restrictions, top 12/20 count.
    1 in-season UFA (24+y/o), 3 round entry draft.
Unlimited (24+y/o) off-season UFAs after the entry draft.

    The Show:
Crosby, Malkin, Kopitar, Eberle, Couture, Krejci, Subban, Simmonds, Hedman, Jokinen, Kesler, Barrie, Johansson

    The Farm:
MacKinnon, Toffoli, Bjugstad, Spooner, Zucker, Bjorkstrand, Jaskin

Taylor Hall came off shoulder surgery the previous year (pretty much the same surgery RNH just had), then came back last year to score 50 pts in 45 games. Is he considered damaged goods as well?

Wow!!! So if I am reading this right, someone gave you Brad Richards + a 1st Rd pick + Code Eakin for your Heatley? Who did you just conduct the trade with - Heatley?

Kidding aside, many congrats and good luck!

Yes, Hall is damaged goods. For sure. So I'll be expecting to trade for him at a very heavy discount. [Not!]

Heatley's shoulder was done before this recent surgery.

    Default Hall's Surgery Was Labral

Taylor Hall came off shoulder surgery the previous year (pretty much the same surgery RNH just had), then came back last year to score 50 pts in 45 games. Is he considered damaged goods as well?
Labrum's not the same issue that RNH had, rather, it's more like Kesler's. It's an extremely long recovery for Labral injuries, but generally players do come back to 100% from that. Maybe I should have been more specific: I'm talking about separations/dislocations that require surgery. Especially when they happen to the same shoulder more than once, there's almost no way that it comes back to 100%.
