It's on the hawk's web site too. No terms released yet.

Crawford owners must be breathing a sigh of relief, as I don't think Cory's value is all that special if he didn't resign.

I hope Chicago got him at a good cap hit, as I personally don't see him a top-tier goalie.

In non-cap/salary leagues, this is great for Crawford owners. In cap leagues... we'll see.

So this pretty much kills a lot of the value for Antti Raanta, right? A lot of his hype was that he could potentially step in as starter if and when Crawford becomes too expensive.

I don't think he would have been given the #1 job anyway. He could be the backup next year though.

I'm sure there would have been some people drafting Raanta on the possibility of getting a starting gig...I do think he'll fall off pretty much everyone's draft board now...

I would not say " kills" but his values takes a hit. He obviously will be stuck behind Crawford in Chicago, maybe he plays solid backup for a year and shows starter capabilty at the NHL level and the Hawks move him at some point to a team he can start for? Possible. So yeah for now his value is diminished some, but still feel he has a bright future as a NHL starter somewhere.

Anyway back to Crawford. It's a risky investment to go that long, but as long as the $$$ isn't to crazy it's ok. He's a solid goalie and he keeps proving people wrong, so we'll see.

Agreed. Not happy about 6 years. Better be a team-friendly deal since they are giving him that much security.

I'm guessing the cap hit is somewhere around $5.5 million. Mike Smith's and Jimmy Howard's recent extensions are pretty good comparables.

Hey Shakes, where do you see him compared with other goalies this season? It'll be hard to match last year but given the squad, he should still have a good year. You can look at the usual cats but general thoughts are ok.

Cap hit is $6 million. Wow. Higher than I thought it would be.

Exactly. Crawford should be paying Chicago for inflating his stats, lol
