Corey Perry, if it is a daily-start league.
Anaheim plays the most off-night schedule of any team in the NHL.
This means, if a league has a 3RW daily-start, that you could probably roster about 4RW and never have a conflict. This is very good when looking at a ONE-YEAR production.
Even thought this is a "keeper"... you are not going to keep ANYBODY on this list as a 1st round pick.
Perry also has trade value in a "daily-start" league because you could bring it to your leaguemates attention how valuable it is to have Anaheim players. (are you familar with the Same Night Tool?).
Anyways... I'd use Perry simply for scheduling and trade bait.
He'll either make your team competitive (due to his schedule) or you can use that scheduling bonus to trade him away for somebody that might have more keeper value.
MacKinnon is the other option... but he really isn't worth 1st round value until probably his 3rd or 4th year in the NHL. Until then, you are basically signing away ANY chance of winning a pool ONLY to have him as fair-value in three or four years. I don't like that.
I completely agree with that analysis of Mackinnon. I'm a huge Avalanche fan so I will do what I can to get him, but when I get him the plan is to keep him forever, and it's not worth it in that sense until he drops down to mid-pick range.
As for Perry, that is a really interesting stat to note. My league is 3RW though, and I'm not quite sure that I'll be able to redraft 4 capable RW players so I don't know how much this would come into effect.
Love Kopitar. He would be my choice here.
MacKinnon by far. No brainer
I'd go Backstrom.. then Kopitar then Perry or Mackinnon
