I would go Doug Martin with the 2nd pick overall. In the next round you can solidify your RB slot again, if you like the backs available. Come round 3, an ELITE WR or QB will fall to you.

    1 - Elite RB
    2 - Elite WR
    3 - Elite QB
    4 - ?

    I was thinking:

    1 elite rb
    2 rb/wr
    3 wr/rb

With only 4 pts for passing TDs, I definitely wait on a QB.

I like going RB, RB, WR especially if it is a 10-team league. If you can get someone like Ridley or Forte in the 2nd, that is great. Maybe some guys take a QB, Graham, and Green and Marshall thus pushing down the 10-13 RBs.

#2? I would have said Charles but that was before he hurt his foot (He is supposed to play tonight). Martin, Spiller, and Charles would be the ones I'd consider. Tough choice.

    Foster at #2?

I wouldn't. He is slipping down the board due to injuries. Plus, you'd have to take Tate and I don't like going into a draft knowing I am going to have to handcuff a player.

LOL- At first I thought you meant Foster as your second round pick.

To be honest, the earliest I plan on drafting a QB is rd 6. I was just giving you a scenario with the previous post. I fully plan on having 3WR and 3RB by the time I select a QB.

It depends on who is available. If I see someone good available then I'll take them. If not then I'll wait.

What you have to consider is that 2 pt difference for passing TDs. That is going to take away 60+ pts for the elite QBs. So when looking at all these rankings and mock drafts, they all use 6 pts for passing QBs. That alone would make me wait. I took Ryan at the end of the 4th round (#48) in my only draft so far and was very pleased but I would not have made that pick if QBs get 4 for passing TDs. If it's a 10-team league, I would try to be the last team taking a starting QB. But don't wait so long that someone takes their backup which should be your starter. Maybe round 8 or 7 if you are getting nervous.

Agree with this. No need to take a QB early in most league formats, particularly one that devalues the position with 4 pts/TD and 1 pt/25yds passing.

Regarding who to select at #2 overall, in a non-PPR league I'd play this one very safe by choosing a true workhorse back on a running team who is sure to receive the goal line carries. I'd not take Foster (too much uncertainty du to past workload). I'd not take Charles or Spiller or McCoy (huge upside, but fairly high risk for my liking at 2nd overall, in my opinion). For me, the choice would come down to Richardson, Martin or Lynch. And I'd be quite tempted to put Lynch 1st and Martin 3rd on that list.

Second overall is probably the toughest selection this year (especially in a non-PPR). The objective has to be to get the most sure thing you can to produce at a consistently high level from week to week: for me, that's Lynch. Fairly durable. A run-based offense. On a much better team than the Bucs, Browns, Eagles, Chiefs, etc. A lock to get the goal line carries. And, if you feel the need to insure your first round investment, with a handcuff who is talented and should come cheap (Christine Michael) -- although in a 10 team league, I don't really think that's necessary. Lynch might not be the best of the bunch available at #2 when all is said and done this year, but I believe he is the least likely to severely disappoint whether due to injury, sophomore slump, being on a less competitive team, etc.

The top of the draft is the toughest place to pick. I don't see any RB's who are safe picks outside of AP.

Martin- a nice young talent that did all of his damage in 2 games last year
Spiller- the most talented of the bunch and could finish as the number 1 RB this year. But has never carried a full workload and is fragile
McCoy- dangerous player but RB's with a concussion history is a risky player
Lynch- a run heavy offense with one of the best O lines in the league, probably the safest RB bet behind AP
Charles- talented guy but bad team. He's going far too high for my taste
TRich- lingering injuries and a sub 4.0 avg last year doesn't make me want to take him before 5

All of this to say, take Calvin. If it was PPR, I would probably take him at the 1 spot. In a 10 team league you can still load up on very nice RB's when the draft comes back to you at the 2/3 turn.
