In a situation like this you have to take the top 2 F. I understand that many feel Jones will turn into a stud (I believe this as well) but from a fantasy perspective I avoid top rated Dman for the following reasons:
1. Hard to predict fantasy production (are you going to get a Bouwmeester/E. Johnson or a Karlsson)
2. Dman take longer to provide fantasy value to teams (ie. Hedman)
3. F typically hold more trade value
The 3rd point is the most important. If you land Drouin+Mac and your team is already studded at F this gives you options to explore via trade. A highly touted F prospect like the two aforementioned will net you a better Dman via trade than Seth Jones. Maybe you can land a Weber type Dman?
I don't think people are discounting Jones its just you have better options to explore if you take the two F.
