Sorry for being a day late, was away for the long weekend.

Studs

There’s something a Bruin – Because of all the injuries on the Boston Bruins back end the Bruins were forced to throw pint sized rookie Torey Krug into action. Playing in his 2nd playoff game and only his 5th career game Krug showed everyone that he could play at this level by collecting a 1G and 1A in the 5-2 win over the New York Rangers. Krug who stands a 5’ 9” tall is a whole foot shorter than teammate Zdeno Chara but that didn’t stop him as he also was a +2 and had 2 SOG.

Captain Courageous – With his team shorthanded Ottawa Senator Captain Daniel Alfredsson put his team on his back and scored the tying goal in the final minute of the 3rd period in the double overtime 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. In what could be his final playoffs series Alfredsson blew by his check to find himself wide open in the slot and converted a cross ice pass to make all the Ottawa fans jump out of their seats. This guy is clutch.

The Bruin Wall – Boston Bruin goalkeeper Tuukka Rask is having a fantastic playoff run and he continued his fantastic play by stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced for 0.946 save% in the 5-2 win over the New York Rangers. This is now Rask’s team and he just might carry the Bruins to the Stanley Cup finals.

Duds

Wish we were still playing the Capitals – It just seems like only a week ago New York Ranger goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist was a stud as he had back to back shut outs in round one and now in round two the “not so King” has given up 8 goals in just 2 games including all 5 in the 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins. If the Rangers have any chance to come back in this series the “King” will have to return to his form from round one.

Maybe a pylon would be better? – New York Defenseman Dan Girardi had a game to forget as he was on the ice for ALL five Boston Bruin goals and finishing the night with a -4. Girardi who played 19:29 probably wished he stayed home Sunday night.
