the Last of Us is going to be amazing, if for nothing else than it was Alberta filmed.

The Last of Us should be good.
23 critic reviews on Metacritic weights it out to 84 (right now)... and that's usually a top 25 show for an entire calendar year.
    https://www.metacritic.com/tv/the-la...eason-1?ref=hp

Lead actor (Pedro Pascal) is the guy from Mandalorian - and I think most of us liked that a good bit.

Producer or director (can't remember which) did Chernobyl - and that was good.

So... those three things suggest it'll be solid.
Now... I'll have to go hook my PS4 back up and start playing a portion each week to match-up with the TV show.
(I started it 2-3 years ago... and then life got busy).

Story feels a lot like "The Road" novel by Cormac McCarthy.

Very very excited for this. Wish it wasn't premiering during Wild Card weekend...

If you're ever bored, "Soft White Underbelly" on YouTube is a channel that consists of a guy who 1on1 interviews "people on the fringe" in a very non-biased way. So when I say "people on the fringe" it's drug addicts, child molesters. escorts, pimps, assault survivors; all of that level of society. It's really interesting. The guy who does the interviewing is the most unbiased interviewer I've seen in a long time.

Great to hear. I'm about midway (6 or 7 episodes).

Funny thing to hear myself say the other night:
My wife says "This show feels like the most UNLIKE Star Wars Star Wars thing ever." (probably because all the characters are human and without "powers")
I thought... and said "It's really not... it actually represents the most Star Wars-ish thing there is... which is that the whole Star Wars universe revolves around two opposing sides that were... at war."

Man - I'm glad they made this one.
Really feels like the bonding story that all the other stories needed to enrich them.
    A+++.

I burned through the Recruit fairly quick.

Was a perfect turn off your brain off / half pay attention action-comedy-drama.

Nice middle ground between laugh track sitcoms and dialogue/plot heavy HBO shows.

The ending of Andor gets good too.

I like the 3ep chunks they did. Each 3 eps can be watched together and then the next 3eps are a completely different vibe. It's really cool how they were able to do that.

Watched Madoff on Netflix. What a scumbag he was.. Typical documentary about a man that ran the largest ponzi scheme ever (close to 70 billion).

Andor was fabulous - enjoyed it from start to finish.

One of the main reasons Andor was created was because fans were clamoring for new, original content, characters and stories within the Star Wars universe so they develop this masterpiece, but in the end it suffers the lowest ratings of all the star wars shows (much lower than Mando, Obi, etc) because fans complained it didn't feel Star Wars'ish enough and didn't have jedis LOL. You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Definitely enjoyed the firpirst episode of The Last of Us. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey really play the parts well. I am hoping that this can become everything The Walking Dead could have been, as it is one of my favorite genres. The first epos0de definitely stays true too the video game, which isn't a bad thing.

OK HBO, you have my attention. Please don't mess this up...

Last of Us should be good, especially on HBO - which is pretty sharp on not over-running a show into boredom.
Walking Dead, I think, being an AMC production is/has been milking that as a profit-hound... and I think (???) the comic book is so lengthy that they're trying to cover that. (IDK)

BTW (Blayze) thanks for Alice in Borderland recommendation.
My 13-year old daughter loves all things zombies/fight-to-the-death/can-the-teenages-survive? stuff.

We're about 4 episodes in and she's really loving watching it with me at nights! (which is a great thing for a dad/daughter - to have a show)

Gotta find one for the wife & I.
Though we are really enjoying s3 of "The Sinner".
That's a pretty good show - I really didn't think I was going to like it, but they've had some good stories and characters through s1, s2, s3.

I'm gonna watch e1 of Last of Us tonight!!!
Wikipedia states it will be NINE (9) episodes... so looks like HBO has me locked in for another 2 months!

Good reading on all the locations in Calgary/Alberta from wiki link above under "Filming".
Text says the filming is supposed to replicate "post-apocalyptic Boston".
LOL... but film it in Alberta! Awesome!
