MM has been incredible lately.
The character he plays (bayou style, cop, psychology-nut, anti-social)... he nails it.
They make a phenomenal cop-tandem.

It's like... I love the two cops in "The Killing"... and the setting... but the storyline sucked.
In True Detective... characters are great... setting is great... storyline... GREAT!
Oh yeah, it's good.
And with only 8 episodes, you can binge watch it in 4-6 days.
Super duper duper good!

Orange is the New Black is excellent. I highly recommend it. The format is interesting too - like the last season of Arrested Development - just watch the whole season whenever you want!

I must be missing something here, because Orange is the New Black does not give different perspectives of the same day.

You could argue that Orange is the New Black doesn't give different perspectives between episodes either.

I'm not a fan of the show at all really. Had you not told me it was the same writer as Weeds I probably would have figured it out after 6 episodes, it's funny to start with but it's schtick gets really redundant and tired quickly. If Arrested Development is a fine Bordeaux of comedy then OITNB is Wine Cooler.

So you could watch it like one really long movie, unlike most tv shows.

Ah, you mean like that. Yeah, Netflix does that with the shows they produce. But binge-watching is hardly a new thing, although I've seen some people claim that Netflix's shows are produced to be less like episodes, but I don't really agree with that. Each episode usually has its own arc with a longer overarching story spanning over the entire season or several episodes going on as well.

I'm happy t announce that I'm cancelling my cable. Finally. I've said I was going to do this for a long time.

The only thing I'm concerned about is live sports. Hockey really.

I'll be sure to revive or start a new "game center or live hockey streams" thread soon.

Suits is excellent although I liked the first seasons a lot better.

I'm ready, I think I could do it.
My wife & I are still hanging onto our $120/month cable/internet bill... but man, it's seriously bordering on the "Can we afford this?" line.
Problem for us is that she is a stay-at-home-wife and it is (truly) a tough thing to be locked in your own home with kids and not have something to entertain you.
She likes HGTV and the Cooking Networks and those help her through the day.

But seriously... I think I could live on a $60 internet only bill w/Netflix streaming.

I have used Hockeystreams last year and it works great! I wans't a fan of not having the playoffs with Gamecenter.

I'm currently paying $160 a month for cable and internet.

I'm anticipating paying $100 to $150 a year on hockey. Doable.Either Game center or hockey streams. If I do game center I have to pay another $7 a month for a ip switcher thing.

I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Legends is a new series which has potential. It stars the always awesome, Sean Bean as a deep undercover agent of some kind. It is produced by the same people who did Homeland and 24, but it is a TNT program, so I am skeptical. It premieres for me tomorrow night on Bravo, although apparently it premiered for some on Aug 20.
