Thanks for a great Monday update.
Studs
Old guys getting ‘er done! – Detroit Red Wing forwards Henrik Zetteberg and Pavel Datsyuk were giving it everything they had last night in their 3-0 win over the punchless Nashville Predators. Datsyuk and Zetteberg who’s combined age is somewhere around 87 tormented the Predators by posting 1 goal ,3 assists, 9 SOG, 1 GWG and a +4 together. Datsyuk who normally holds it altogether was visibly upset that he was not named one of the 3 stars of the game and Zetterberg was.
Dishing out the Blues – Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford was at his best once again Sunday night as Crawford stopped all 30 shots he face in the 2-0 shutout victory over the St. Louis Blues. Near the end of the game the Blues players were trying bribe Crawford with candy to allow them to score at least one goal. Crawford looks like he is feeling no ill effects from his concussion he suffered earlier in the season as he improved his season stats to 17-4-4, 1.92 GAA, 0.926 Save % and 3 SO.
Great night to be a goalie – Crawford was not the only goalie to have a great night on Sunday as there was only one goalie who gave up 3 goals while all the other goalies gave up 2 or less including a shut out by Detroit’s Howard.
By the numbers:
Jimmy Howard – 22 saves, 0 GA, 1.000 Save %
Jhonas Enroth – 33 saves, 1 GA, 0.970 Save %
Pekka Rinne – 29 saves, 2 GA, 0.935 Save %
Brian Elliott – 24 saves, 2 GA, 0.923 Save %
Pekka Rinne – 29 saves, 2 GA, 0.935 Save %

Once a back up, always a back up – Tampa Bay Lightning Mathieu Garon goalie showed why he will never be a starter in the NHL as he allowed 3 goals on just 22 shots in the 3-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. With The arrival of Bishop and having Lindback healthy for next season could spell the end of Garon in Tampa.
Shooting Blanks – Both the St. Louis Blues and Nashville Predators were shooting blanks last night as they failed to score in each of their games. With St. Louis looking on keeping their playoff spot and Nashville trying to climb their way up to a playoff spot you would of thought you would see a little bit more from them. the MTV movie awards were on last night and I heard both teams really wanted to watch it and were mad when their coaches wouldn't PVR it for them.
