Question about strategy

I read in a recent thread that it is not a bad idea to have a starting pitching spot that you cycle through pitchers from the free agency. Can anyone shed any light on this? I was thinking Dan Haren was a good candidate to drop and then use that spot as my perpetual add/drop slot.

First question to ask --- do you have an IP limit?

You are referring to "streaming", which when done correctly can help you win a league. However, it can also ruin your season if you do it incorrectly...

Ya it can blow up in your face. But with smart selections it can have a good impact. I rolled Pettitte through most of his starts last year, dropping him in between each, and reaped the dividends because I used the roster spot in between his starts to plug other holes. You can't be pulling this stuff with the fringe young guys like Maurer or Teheran or even sophomores for that matter. But if you play the matchups right (vs. Houston, etc.) with the right guys (consistent veterans on above average teams), then it's a good strategy. As mentioned, IP and transaction limits will be a factor to consider.
