    Default Studs & Duds - Sunday 3/17

    Studs

Sometimes Silfver is better than Gold – Rookie Jakob Silfverberg of the Ottawa Senators scored 2 goals including the game winner in a 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Sunday Night. Silfverberg finished the night with 6 SOG and a PPG. This was Silfverberg’s first 2 goal game of his career.

This Penguin is flying now!- Tomas Vokoun is finally finding the form that both he and the Pittsburgh Penguins were hoping for when Vokoun signed with club during the offseason. After having three bad outings where he gave up 16 goals on 93 shots Vokoun might have turned his season around by allowing just 2 goals on the last 70 shots he faced including stopping 31 shots in a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

This kid is not bad! - Jordan Eberle played a great game last night in picking up 1 Goal and 1 Assist including the game winner in a close 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

Two point specialty – 6 members of the Washington Capitals and 3 members of the Buffalo Sabres all had 2 points apiece in the 5-3 win By the Capitals. Ovechkin, Backstrom, Ward, Ribeiro, Perreault and Johansson did it for the Capitals and Hodgson, Pomminville and Ennis did it for the Sabres.

    Duds

Not so “Miller Time” anymore – Ryan Miller had another bad outing as he gave up 5 goals on just 25 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Washington Capitals. This was his 4th consecutive start with a below .900 Save%. Things are not looking good for the Sabres this year.

What a dumb ass! - Sergei Kostitsyn of the Nashville Predators might have been the biggest Dud all year after what happened last night in the 3-2 Loss to the Edmonton Oilers. While on the Power Play Kostitsyn received a pass that jumped over his stick and instead of skating back to his end to help defend the Oilers rush he decided it was time for a line change setting up a short handed 2 on 1 in which the Oilers scored on. By the way, the goal was the game winner.

Yeah, Vokoun would turn it around right after I jettisoned him for almost single-handedly wrecking my season. Figures.
