With both players becoming UFA in the offseason both goalies may not be the guy in Washington.
I do believe Kolzig was getting to old and the Caps were looking at going a new direction and Huet seems to have been the answer in the stretch run to the playoffs.
I see the Caps trying to lock up Huet in the offseason and Kolzig signing for #2 $$$ or going to another team.

I do not see Kolzig as a #1 anymore.

I don\'t know if Kolzig is mentally ready to be a #2 - that could be a dressing room killer situation.

I think the Caps will try and sign Huet to bridge the gap to the youngsters. Kolzig wants to stay a Cap and retire having only played here but it\'s going to to take a big pay cut to stay here and Johnson is already signed on a one way deal for next year (can they move him?).

I don\'t think Olie will be here.

Huet is a DONE DEAL for next year with the Caps. Bruce was asked about Huet BEFORE the trade since he coached him in the minors. Trade never would have happened if they didnt feel that is direction they want to go forward with. Coach is happy with him, Huet is ON FIRE, and the Caps made the playoffs again finally. The ONLY loser in the whole situation is Kolzig but that is how it goes in goal sometimes. Enjoy the ride, play well if you have to, and put your house up for sale since you wont be living in the Washington area next year.

Kolzig gets screwed from all angles.
