One tweet I read that said Hansen's arm went forward rather than up is what sealed the deal for me.

AV on Hossa hit: It wasn't even a penalty. Both referees, looked at the play, and until Toews went out to talk to them it wasn't a penalty

That was deliberate. You dont lead with your elbow to catch something above your head. Even worse, he tried to cover it up like he was going for the puck.

Canucks fan here... That looked pretty dirty to me. Wouldn't be surprised to see a suspension. He didn't go for the puck really at all.

I highly doubt Hansen meant to elbow him in the head. But then again, if he did, I would have zero problem with that. Payback is a bitch.

Looked intentional to me - I can see him getting 1 game.

So a guy with a history dirty plays nearly cuts a mans foot off with his skate and that is deemed an accident, but a guy who doesn't have a history of dirty playing goes for the puck and hits a guy in the head by accident and you guys think it was intentional?

Wow, it's like we're in the Bazaro world.

That was a pretty crappy play on Hansen's part. Whether or not it was intention is up to Hansen.

After watching, he clearly has separation from his stick with one arm, raises it and wrecked Hossa in the head, with no clear attempt at playing the puck. This was definitely not a hockey play.

I do hope they suspend Hansen for this.

I think we can all agree this shows more intent than the Cooke/Karlsson situation (though we can never know what is in the mind of the player)

I don't think that should be the job of the NHL to determine anyway. They just need to establish that certain plays are reckless and not acceptable.

Cooke should have been suspended too as he is responsible for his skate.

Then you're saying Jokinen should be banned for doing the iron lotus to Richard Zednik.

I'm saying if there is no intent to injure, but you injure (as is with Hossa) then everyone must be suspended. I don't anything malicious with what happened last night. It was an unfortunate accident.

    How do you know intent?

See, there is something I don't agree with, there is a difference in going hard into a corner, fighting for the puck and accidentally cutting someone with a skate. Hansen lifted his arm (elbow) above the guys shoulders and checked him in the head. Very reckless which is a lot more controllable than the skate incident. Now I'm not saying Cooke isn't responsible for his equipment, he is, and maybe he should have been suspended. I think the NHL views the skate incident more as an accident than the Hansen. I bet at least one game for Hansen on this. Torres was suspended for his hit to the head on Hossa if I'm not mistaken.
