I would be happy if he gave me 40-50 points frankly.
What is your take on him for next year points wise?
Where would he rank out of these 5 dmen?

40-50 seems about right if he can avoid the injury bug. PP point total should be nice.

I like Tiantonio\'s list. Murphy, Coburn and Mesz are almost the same imo, depending on his health (Murphy), progression (Coburn) and Redden no longer in OTT (Mesz).
Murphy could get a 50 pts. I don\'t think that he\'s injury prone. He just has to prove himself early next season to avoid healthy scratches.

What struck me most about Murphy is that while he is talented, he is SMALL. I wouldn\'t put much money on him avoiding the injury bug in the NHL.
A LOT of GOOD puck moving degensemen ARE SMALL.
Enstrom is small
Murphy is small
Rafalski is small
Liles is small
Visnovsky is small
ALL Listed at 5\'10\" but probably just under each.

don\'t make me bust out the much, much longer list of small dmen who sucked too much to make the nhl!!
you know why i won\'t draft him? 30 games missed with a bruised shoulder. not a good sign.
Of course there is a LONG LIST of failed small defensemen. NHL teams will ALWAYS love SIZE and before the LOCKOUT, the league had slowly evolved into a GRINDING Defensive game where BIG Dmen could just HANG onto skilled speedy forwards. NOW, going forward, teams need smaller quick defensemen with offensive instincts as PP specialists since there are SO MANY MORE Power Plays now. You cant have a team full of Derian Hatchers and Chris Theriens ANYMORE. You need a Kimmo Timonen. He is listed at 5\'10\" but I have seen him UP CLOSE at the practice facility. Ha, Ha I tell you. Dude is LITTLE but built like a Brick Sh*thouse. Got some Trunks on him. Murphy may suffer more since it seems he has a slight build in addition to being small. Taking much more punishment now than he did the last couple of seasons in Europe is taking its toll.
