Gm has the option to keep between 8 and 12. In the event that 3 Gm\'s keep 8 players and the other 7 gm\'s keep 12, the 3 gm\'s get to pick 4 players each (one at a time--much like the actual draft --this is known as the \"pre-draft) where they have the choice to pick any of the discarded players, or any rookies.
At the moment I am running 1/2 a pt out of 4th. Top 3 get paid. 4th gets 1st overall pick in the draft order both pre round, and actual draft.
Do i drop to 8 players if I i get 4th? even 5th place? ( my top5 forwards, and my 3 goalies, provided if i really wanted to I can pick up some of those players again, and take a shot at stamkos/fliatov/doughety
Or do I keep 12? (T. Kabs, T. enstrom, than any combo of the other 4? )
Im worried I like bouchard with an upside of 85-90pts (yes i think its possible even in minnesota) keeper in mind its will be his fabled 4th year next year.
I know ive asked this before--- but im not totally sold on the possibility of picking up guys like enstrom, or kaberle back.

Locks: Malkin, Hossa, Datsyuk, Semin, Visnovsky(Lubo?), Kaberle, Fleury
Possibles: Bouchard, Kovalev, Langkow, Vrbata, Bryzgalov
Throw Backs: Jagr, Prospal, Gionta, Enstrom, Huet
So thats 7 I would keep for sure, assuming that Lubo is Visnovsky, and then of the 5 I listed as possibles, you could keep all of them, or pick and choose between them. Let Jagr go, I have a suspician he will retire and maybe someone else in the pre-draft will take him, leaving you another cream of the crop instead.
I would probably throw Vrbata back giving you at least 1 pick and depending on whether yout hink there will be any good goalies in the draft I would throw back Bryzgalov too. Those are my thoughts and opinions, I hope it helps out.

How many teams in your league - makes a big difference. Do positions matter? Anyways, here\'s what I\'d do (although a lot depends on the above two question and what you think the other guys might be protecting and exposing):
Definite 8 (Malkin, Hossa, Datysuk, Semin, Fluery, Bryzgalov, Jagr, Kovalev)
I\'d consider Huet depdending on where he signs in the off-season (he might land in Ottawa)
The rest I\'d throw back and grab again or something better with those early picks (assuming you have about 10 teams in your league), here\'s how I see them:
PM Bouchard - upside 80 points in conservative Minny
Langkow - career year was 77 - lot of 50 & 60 point seasons after that
Prospal - on/off consistency from year to year
Vrbata - I\'m not convinced
Gionta - can\'t duplicate 05/06 season
T. Kaberle - if there are no positional requirements why take him over Kovalev
T. Enstrom - my 9th pick
Lubo - off year
Good luck
I guess the big question marks are Jagr. One person has him definate, 1 has him as a throw back.
I think he will rebound next year, but past that he is virtually done. you have a team that can win now, so i would vote to keep him.
Kovalev is having a year not in line with what he normally does. He has a few years with great number (95 points in 2000-01) but he has a long history of injuries. If you can make offseason trades i would ship him off for an upgrade at another keeper.
I would keep only 8 (your next 4 are not as amazing as some of the stuff you can pick up).

I wouldn\'t touch Jagr with a 10 foot pole. He\'s not worth the headaches and the heartaches after he goes back overseas next year.
I like the same 7 as Anonymous. Than I would hold onto a guy like Bryzgalov as well. He\'s going to have some good years on a PHX team that\'s only going to get better and better as their youngsters continue to crack the lineup. I just noticed my picks are the same as notoriousjim haha.. sorry bud.
The others I would most likely throw back, especially if you get the #1 in the pre draft and you can get a youngster like Stamkos I think is worth it. Out of the guys you\'re throwing back, most of them are replaceable anyways. Bouchard and Langkow play at C... very deep position. Prospal, given his trend is due for a 55 pt. season. I like Vrbata, that might be a guy you go back after. He\'s finally coming around and seems to have found a nice fit in PHX under coach gretzky. Gionta... never liked him and I figure his 40+ goal season was a fluke. Enstrom you could always redraft if you wanted too later on in the draft.

i think you also have to compare the value of what you keep vs. what will be available. I assume you have 10 teams, so the top 80-120 will be kept. If your guys from 9-12 do not fall into the upper end of that rankings, dump them.
I play in a league that uses the same categories. For Lubo and Enstrom you have to remember they do not add to some of the classic D stats (PIM)
It seems like this is the consensus.
