Ooooo. I'm excited about recommendations above.

Wife and I watched Saltburn a couple weekends ago - we like those moves but there's been a few of them (2-3 for sure) done more clever in past couple years.
We also watched Leave the World Behind just before Christmas - but I was tired from home DIY and fell asleep! Yikes. Glad that the movie wasn't fantastic (for some).

IIRC, Metacritic gave these movies like a 65ish - which is why I always love/reference that site for movies.
60-69 range is the hit/miss range for us... and it felt that way.

We just flagged Society of Snow (71 metacritic) - excited for that... also because we both really loved Showtime's Yellowjackets.
Survival of an isolated society is a definite favourite movie topic/genre for us.

Very excited to watch A Good Person... (we'll see on that score of 50 though!).
For me - those movies (...) penetrate very, very deeply.
Three more in that genre - for those that like them - Aftersun & Petite Maman (french) & The Quiet Girl.
Highly recommend for those that appreciate this genre (which is... not most) and three of the highest rated movies of the past 3 years.

Saltburn wasn't a riveting plot, but there was a couple of scenes at the right time that kept you engaged. Then there's a lot of artsy director stuff that's interesting, but if that's not for you it'll def be a subpar watch. There's a reason why it was released to limited theatres and only took off when it went on Amazon Prime.

Plus, if the 2 actors were anyone different, I don't think it's nearly as popular. Girls freaking love Jacob Elordi and now Barry Koeghan (jaw filler really skyrockets your sex appeal apparently)

Wind River from 2017. Excellent flick. Directed by Sheridan who does Yellowstone (many of the same actors are in this). 9/10

Thanksgiving. Somewhat similar to Scream, but with more gore. E. Roth directed this one so it's not for the faint of heart. Picks up well after the 30 minute mark. 8/10

Gran turismo. Way better than expected. Corny at times and predictable, but still enjoyable for those racing fans. Fans of F1 show would enjoy this one. Based on a true story. 8/10

Watched this one Christmas Eve. Fun and dumb! 7/10

Watched this one on Christmas with the family (Mom's recommendation). Enjoyable time.

Rebel Moon - a little 'meh' but watchable. Good action but poor acting. 6/10
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

Watched a handful of flicks recently:

Lift - 5/10 - Kevin Hart's latest Netflix film is a heist movie. It's that typical blend of mediocrity in terms of story, acting, visual effects that you get from a Netflix product, but it's still a heist movie, which I love. I'm also not a Kevin Hart fan so for me to come out of this one on the positive side is huge.

Ocean's Eleven - 10/10 - Wanted to watch another heist flick and this one is a classic. Never gets old.

Gran Turismo - 6/10 - Watched this on Crave. Cool story. Great visual experience. All in all enjoyable.

Equalizer 2 - 7/10 - Also on Crave. Not quite as good as the first in this series. I find the tone and pacing of this series strangely off. But it's Denzel and it's well-done action. Revenge porn is also a very enjoyable genre.

I don't watch many movies but I did watch Oppenheimer since it was released on Peacock. I thoroughly enjoyed it especially the science behind it and the different scientists. It was incredibly well-acted with a rich script. 9.5/10

Went back and re-watched Kill Bill for the first time in a long time. Such a good flick. Tarantino is brilliant. Also excellent hype to start stroking names off my list in the fantasy playoffs.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was his last. Rumoured "The Movie Critic" is his next, and last movie which will be released in 2025 apparently.
