Default He\'s offering Ovechkin... wants too much??

HI!! I\'M first in my pool this year now by 97 points...
There\'s no way I will be caught...
It\'s points only and we have 10 keepers spots... I have already identified my keepers and now one of the bottom dwellers made me an offer... He wants to balance his team off \'cause he only has 5 real keepers...

He\'s offering Ovechkin and G. Roberts ( which I wont keep anyways)

    for my

    O. Jokinen, Kopitar and Hemsky.

    What would you guys do?

getting rid of these keepers means I would replace them with Lupul and Prospal for next year as keepers.
    Juuuuuuuuuust a bit outside...

For a chance to get Ovechkin I would take this deal and RUN!! Lupul isn\'t a bad option, and I\'m sure you\'ll be able to improve on a guy like Prospal next year.

AO is going to be putting up a decade of 50+ goals and 100+ points. Not to mention he\'s the best LW in the game, period. LW is usually the toughest position to fill due to lack of depth.

I would do that trade in a second. The guys you are giving up are nice to have but replaceable. I would think an Ovechkin owner would be asking for way more than that.

Lupul is not a bad keeper either - and Prospal you can trade before he has one of his bad seasons next year (in his good, bad, good, bad, cycle of course).

    Just my 2 cents.

Getting AO without giving an elite player in return. Take the deal and run.
Would be nice to see your team and keepers though to make a better decision.

Take it now, before he changes his mind. I drafted Ovechkin this year (some dumbass didn\'t protect him) and he has done wonders for my team. I protected Vinnie last year, you can gaurantee it will be Ovechkin I protect this year. This is a great deal, and you shouldn\'t wait to long to jump on it. I know I wouldn\'t.

I hope you aren\'t reading all these responses before you accept.

Click accept then ask yourself why you took the chance that the trade would be canceled while you wrote your post.

Just some point predictions for next season to help you make the decision:

    Ovechkin 110
    Prospal 65
    Lupul 65
    TOTAL 240

    Kopitar 85
    Hemsky 75
    O. Jokinen 90
    TOTAL 250

These are pretty conservative estimates (especially for Prospal and Lupul, who could certainly put up more points than that). As you can see, even in the short term, this trade shouldn\'t hurt you. As other posters have said, if you pick up a bit of talented youth or a top player or two early in your draft this year, you\'ll be able to replace Prospal and even Lupul with other keepers for the next season.

Overall, I think this is a GREAT trade for you. You\'ll win the trade hands down in terms of its impact in future years.

I agree... Ovechkin is the only one on the list I would bet the bank on. Other guys have \"potential\" but no gurantees year in, year out.

I really your post here Flanders! Sure you might lose a bit short term, but in a limited keeper environment quality >>>> quantity and guess who\'s getting the second best quality player in the deal??? YOU!

Alexander the great is simply that, without question. If you really are not sure about this trade, you can always try a counter offer and try to upgrade Roberts. Then again, I think a lot might depend on the rest of your team too. If you are stacked, then take Ovechkin and run baby, run.

You have already won the deal but you should counter offer to see if you can pick up something else. Obviously your trading partner believes he is winning the deal so take Roberts out of the equation and ask for a pick instead.

When good deals like this come along, the last thing you want is to give your opponent the opportunity to think about the trade again by making a counter. In his eyes, your asking price might be a little higher than what he\'s willing to part with and could make him change his mind about dealing AO altogether.

I wouldn\'t take those chances, there\'s no need to get even greedier when an elite player like AO is on the line.

I would ask if the guy would replace Roberts. He obviously wants Jokinen/Kopitar pretty bad anyways. If he won\'t replace Roberts then ask for a 3rd round pick.

    Get Ovechkin!!

    I totally agree.

Then, if he agrees to a pick instead of Roberts, see if you can throw in a lower pick for an even better pick from him.

Any pick is better than Roberts.
But don\'t get greedy. Get AO while he\'s on the table.
