The first year the top posters were allowed entry into the Pro League - I only made it in because a couple people declined (whew!)

But now this year it\'s a lot harder because the spots are already set - so the top posters have access, but there are fewer spots handed out.

On another note, thank you Trotz, hopefully Radulov will get this kind of ice time every game of the playoffs now!

Its tough to get into the expert pool now but i\'ll keep my fingers crossed. Might have to outpost Shoeless to get 1st priority if someone drops out.

My new keeper league my friends and I are starting next year has decided to Bid on 3 players and then go into a snake draft, do i go all out on 1 or space my bids out and get a 1st round, 2nd, round and 3rd round type player.
We are expecting about 12 teams.

it does matter.

If its $10 and the min bid is $1 than you need to spend $8 to get Crosby, Malkin, AO or Luongo. Then you run into the problem of all GM making the same bid. The its a coin toss and kinda defeats the purpose of the bid.

If its $100 than you need to see what the max bid is for a top 4 player. Kinda hard to decide what route to take until you know what the market price is for an elite player and what the avg price is for a the first 3 rounds.

I would suggest that you do a mock draft to see if this system works. I just don\'t see it working.

First off for this discussion if we decide it is $8 or 80% or 98% there isn\'t a difference, i do like your suggestion of holding a mock draft, that might be something for me to look into.

But for now we had already voted on and decided to bid on 3 players each which should work out anywhere from the top 30 to 50 players picked. To put that in perspective if a snake draft was held 1st over all would pick his next 2 players in a 12 team draft 24th and 25th, compared to 35th and 36th in our system. I do see your issue with 2 guys bidding the same and that is something we will have to look into if or when the time comes.


Judging by all of your responses on this i have a feeling you would put all your chips in one basket and spend 98% on one player and 1% on 2 other players? Do you feel that is the best way to go?

Chinny like I have said its hard to give an opinion withou knowing howmuch someone is willing to spend on a player and what the avg price is.

I like having an all around team but having one of the top 4 players is key.

Ok, yeah i can understand that.

I think i will start a post to try and find 11 or 12 guys to do a mock draft using this setup, i don\'t want to tip off the rest of the guys in my pool about my or anyone elses strategy\'s.

I would love for the guys in this topic all be part of it.

I have never done an auction style draft but to me they would be by far the most fun, particularly with people that you know.

Personally this sort of draft would operate a lot on feel, depending on how other people are bidding and what players are left in the pool.

It would be fun to do a mock draft style of bidding.
