Who will win rookie of the year next season(08-09)

I think that is a safe assumption to make. Mueller has been playing wing this year. They might make Turris and Mueller the second line and hanzal the 3rd line centre depending on if they resign vrbata.

I gotta eat the humble pie and say that my opinion of Oshie has risen a great deal recently. Apparently he\'s bigger than what I thought, and both HF and THN\'s reviews of him recently have been very good.

Matthias also surprises me on Dobber\'s list.

Unless I make another deal in the offseason, I think I\'ll have room to pick up and keep one more rookie for next year. The tough part will be balancing who I think will break out next year, whose the best longterm, and who everyone else in my pool thinks will breakout (and therefore will be picked super high in the draft). Ideally I want to take the perceived calder favourite off the market early and then have a chance at some of the others like Mathias with later draft picks.

So who do you guys think will be labeled by the more mainstream media sources as the calder favourites in August? Turris, Stamkos for sure eh?

Right now, prospects owned in my league are: Voracek (me), Bernier (me), Esposito, Frolik, Okposo, VanRiemsdyk, Turris, Backlund, and Ryan.

I think the choice for me is between Oshie, Berglund, and maybe Cherepanov. I need the RW more, but Cherry is a pretty risky. (Only drafted players can be picked up as an FA).

but in regards to your question you need to hold onto your young players. you have an amazing young team. Wait a few years and win your pool. don\'t sell off your youth for temp upgrades.

Just a question...I know I\'ve got him on my team and I\'ve seen it mentioned before. I don\'t think he will but Kulemin...Like I said I don\'t think he will have much of a shot b/c I don\'t believe he\'s in the league of some of these other prospects. What kind of noise can we expect from him?

I\'ll throw in Fabian Brunnstrom in the mix. Still only 23, if he adapts well in the NHL, he could be a strong guy for the Calder. Than again, depends on which team signs him. A Zetterberg-Brunnstrom line in Detroit might be interesting.

By the way, the last possible day of playoffs in the Swedish league Elitserien is Sunday April 20.

I say Cherapanov will take it, possibly Kulemin. I think that both have the skill and both should see some quality minutes on their respective teams. Turris will be up there as well as Voracek and Berglund, but I think it goes back to the Russians, if they come over.

I think Turris will be the likely winner though. All depends on who cracks top 6, easier to do in Phx and they will want him with skilled players. I believe Giroux will play with Richards or Briere so I think he will have a good chance.
