Default Need 1 more keeper - PPR League: Forte, Stafford, or R.White?

    Hey guys,

I'm in a 10-team league. 1 point per reception. A lot of points for bonuses.

Here is a full-list of my offensive settings:

    Passing
    Every 25 passing yards (PY25) 1; Every 10 pass completions (PC10) 1
Every 5 pass incompletions (IP5) -1; TD Pass (PTD) 5
    40+ yard TD pass bonus (PTD40) 2; 50+ yard TD pass bonus (PTD50) 2
    Interceptions Thrown (INT) -2; 2pt Passing Conversion (2PC) 2
    300-399 yard passing game (P300) 4; 400+ yard passing game (P400) 6

    Rushing
Every 10 rushing yards (RY10) 1; TD Rush (RTD) 6
    40+ yard TD rush bonus (RTD40) 3; 50+ yard TD rush bonus (RTD50) 3
    2pt Rushing Conversion (2PR) 2; 100-199 yard rushing game (RY100) 5
    200+ yard rushing game (RY200) 10;

    Receiving
Every 10 receiving yards (REY10) 1; Each reception (REC) 1
TD Reception (RETD) 6; 40+ yard TD rec bonus (RETD40) 2
    50+ yard TD rec bonus (RETD50) 2; 2pt Receiving Conversion (2PRE) 2
    100-199 yard receiving game (REY100) 3; 200+ yard receiving game (REY200) 6

    Miscellaneous
    Every 10 kickoff return yards (KR10) 0.5; Every 10 punt return yards (PR10) 1
Kickoff Return TD (KRTD) 6; Punt Return TD (PRTD) 6
Fumble Recovered for TD (FTD) 6; Total Fumbles (FUM) -1
    Total Fumbles Lost (FUML) -2;

    Starting Lineup Settings:
    1QB
    2RB
    3WR
    Flex (RB/WR)
    TE

LeSean McCoy is my first keeper.

Based on those settings, who would you keep as your 2nd keeper:

Matt Forte (242 fantasy points in 11GP before injury last year - was 2nd ranked back before he got injured)
Matthew Stafford (426 fantasy points last year)
Roddy White (289 fantasy points last year)

I know in a PPR League those backs who are also great playmakers out of the backfield and catch a lot of receptions are extremely valuable so I'm really leaning towards Forte in this PPR League as I'd love to start the year off with those type of backs in McCoy and Forte, but the Bush signing worries me a bit, not to mention Stafford's breakout year last year as well as Roddy White's consistency doesn't make this as easy of a decision as I initially thought.

So, if you were me - who would you keep as your second keeper: Forte, Stafford, or White?

    Thanks!

Roddy White. Julio's emergence will take some coverage off him.

I like Forte but he will slow down at some point. Stafford is an injury risk and that team plays like they are in jail. Who knows what suspensions will affect his team adversely this year.

Thanks for the responses/votes so far everyone.

It seems like things are pretty close. Would any of the voters like to list the reasons why they'd choose the guy they'd choose? - still really debating which way to go

    Close call.

In a 10-team league, I'd be really inclined not to take a QB... since you can find a serviceable one late in the draft. That said, the top QBs might be raking 400pts with the end-of-draft QBs raking 300pts... that's a 100pt difference. Would Forte or White give you that difference on an end-of-draft player? (or an emerging waiver player)

With Forte - he is less a part of the offense now. Sure, more weapons allow him to average better yards, but will he score any more? Possibly less, unless he goes in from 10+ out.

(just FYI: I do one "keeper" with a buddy and our three keepers are Stafford, Forte, and probably B.Lloyd.)

I'm torn... but it's definitely only between Forte & Stafford, IMO.
    I think I take Stafford.

I'm having a tough time understanding why many (not just pen) believe that forte is going to have a reduced role of sorts? The guy is not a TD machine and hasn't been the goal line back for a few years now. Yet last year, before he sprained his ankle, he was a top 2 rb in a ppr league. The man is a machine and chicago's offense runs through him. Now that the bears have finally coughed up and paid him, it wouldn't make sense for them to not use him the exact same way as they always have.

Everything I've read suggests that Forte will have less touches.
    1. Michael Bush is a better back than Marion Barber.
    2. Cutler now has Brandon Marshall (magic in Denver) and his Den QB coach.
    3. Forte did have a knee injury last year and any smart Coach/OC isn't going to overwork a guy who had a previous knee injury.

Yes... he was the 2nd RB last year before he went down.
That doesn't mean he will repeat.

The biggest mistake people make in fantasy football is making an assumption that a player can repeat a career performance.

Here's a recent list by ESPN.
Two writers have Forte on their bust list.
No writers have Stafford on their bust list.

I don't mean to come across as argumentative. I just feel like I need to have this discussion about forte.

-Bush may be a better back than Barber but is no where near the same level as Forte. I believe he is a top 5 rb in the league
-Other than his 2nd year, forte hasn't finished out of the top 10 in a ppr league. Last year wasn't a career year, it's the norm
-Forte's knee injury has been blown out of proportion. He was available for the last game, possibly two last games of the season. They parked him because there was no point as the bears season was over.

Never, ever listen to the people on espn! If you want rankings or fantasy related tools: fantasysharks, the huddle and profootballfocus are all far more credible fantasy sources.

Pengwin's first two points would be my reasoning for why I would stay away. However, I don't think you can count on many coaches or OC in the league doing things that have foresight beyond that game.

Forte had 4 TDs last year... Bush had 8 and he started 3 less games. The PPR thing is a good point, however.

Roddy White is one of the best receivers in football but if you can replace him with someone better then drop him, I suppose.

Starrford and FOrte are both injury risks.
