    Default Gardner or Altuve?

12 team 5x5 H2H keeper league (keep 8). I'm in dead last and have started a rebuild, trying to get younger and improve my chances for the next few years.

    My current keepers:
    Ryan Howard
    Jason Kipnis
    Jose Reyes
    Mike Moustakas
    Jacoby Ellsbury
    Hunter Pence
    Felix Hernandez
one of Dan Uggla or Brian Wilson (depending on his arm)

I can deal Wilson for either Brett Gardner or Jose Altuve for my final keeper slot instead of Uggla. Who do you prefer for the next 2-3 years? Altuve is obviously a lot younger, but doesn't have the supporting cast that Gardner does.

Your point is right on, Altuve simply won't have the same supporting cast. However, Gardner's injury plagued season has to be considered. Then again, Gardner isn't really that old and has such a stacked team around him that I think he'll put you in a better position next season and the year after.

Despite being on a bad team, Altuve is the clear choice for these reasons.

    1. He's younger (22).
    2. He plays at a scarce position.
    3. He is a very good hitter and knows how to score runs, take walks etc.
    4. He's more valuable in a keeper league.

Long, long-term, e.g. 4+ years, I told agree, but think Gardner probably is better for the next 2.
